Bring it On 2024!
Deann wanted to go somewhere we have never been for New Year's Eve this year. I granted her wish by getting admitted to the hospital in Iowa City on Friday for acute liver dysfunction and acute kidney dysfunction.
I was having extreme breathing difficulties which my gym and family may have noticed. Deann noticed how serious it was, but I don't think I did at all - so glad I have been blessed with her in my life. My oncologist said he was glad I came in on Friday, because if I had waited until after the holiday weekend, it could have been life threatening.
The doctors are trying to determine if my conditions are being caused by the medications I have been taking to treat the cancer, or if the cancer itself which is rapidly progressing. I have been poked and prodded like a pin cushion for the last three days, along with multiple scans. They are still putting the pieces together. Some of my issues have improved, but still lots of abdominal pain, cancer, and treatments we need to figure out.
So Deann and I are just hanging out in a hospital room at University of Iowa Hospital, watching football, and putting our feet up.
If you have any suggestions on some cool Life Lists (much more positive outlook rather than bucket list) for close family activities or trips, we might be looking to fit them in.
I know I am not fighting this battle alone. I have an amazing family - at home and at the gym - and amazing friends that I know are praying hard for my recovery. I do my very best to read every comment. I truly appreciate every prayer, kind word, and thought you all have shown me. Day by Day and Month by Month staying positive on the good days and the bad.
With all the lows of 2023, there were still great moments and we are hopeful, and looking forward to 2024 being even better!
