As a high achiever raised in a military family and taught that emotions were messy, I was shocked to learn in grad school:

Your brain isn’t motivated with logic.
It moves toward emotion.

You can visualize all you want, but if your body doesn’t feel safe, energized, or available for more—your nervous system will default to the familiar. Not the aspirational.

It’s not a mindset problem, it’s literal neurobiology.

High-achieving women are exceptional at suppressing desire in the name of responsibility.
We call it maturity.
Our nervous system calls it containment.

Emotion is the activation signal that tells your brain, “This matters enough to shift our patterns”

No one told me this would be a thing?! But once your nervous system isn’t dysregulated, hustle stops feeling rewarding.

Proving yourself feels unnecessary.

Most people think focus, drive, and resilience are mindset traits. But they can also be physiological outputs, heavily influenced by gut health and inflammation.

Who’s ready to dilly dally with me? Who’s ready to climb cringe mountain? Who’s looking for the least effort and max return? ✊🏼 LFG!

Ready for the most unhinged segue ever?😅 You will not feel safe being seen until you get out of your performative fight or flight and into the safety of a nervous system in rest and digest. For real.

And unfortunately, a healthy nervous system doesn’t just rewire overnight. There’s a lot of time, practice, and physiology to get through. Just like you didn’t get into your anxious over performing state with one habit, it will take several shifts and habit changes to ease out of it.

But an excellent start is right in your gut—your second brain, and a core part of your nervous system.
