Here is a great study showing how Dry Needling was just as effective as cortisone injection to treat hip bursitis. Again, dry needling promotes healing from within the body, no drugs. If you are thinking you need a cortisone injection, try DN first!

Does it hurt?? I get this question often; you think needle through the skin=pain, HOWEVER it is actually a pretty painless procedure. The needles are so thin, the "prick" is much less than that of the common flu shot needle. Most people don't even feel it. When performing trigger point needling, you might feel an achy feeling after the needle is in but it resolves quickly. The biggest take away is: IF YOU HAVE PAIN-ACUTE OR CHRONIC- THE "PAIN" OF THE NEEDLE WILL BE LESS THAN YOUR CURRENT PAIN AND WILL BE WELL WORTH IT TO REAP THE RELIEF AND BENEFIT OF DRY NEEDLING!! Give it a try! Book here: https://square.site/book/1HT4VKC6M7KB8/restore-integrative-pt-llc-fort-mill-sc

How does Dry Needling work?? Let me tell you. We use a SMALL monofilament needle which, when it enters the skin, starts a cascade of events. First thing, it stretches the tissue that it is inserted into (most of the time muscle) so it actually stretches inside the muscle--the place you cannot reach through regular stretch or massage. Then it creates a tiny lesion and our extremely smart body then goes to work. It releases healing chemicals, brings inflammatory mediators, and creates microcirculation all which activates tissue remodeling-the actual repair of the structure. This is a local response. Now throughout your body, this tiny little needle also produces systemic effects, restoring your bodies homeostasis, bringing balance by decreasing physical and physiological stress. Interested?
