PROUD and EMOTIONAL.

Grayson started his first day of TK. He’s been waiting for this day for months! The day he gets to take his new lunchbox to school and meet new friends. 🤣 He was so brave today as I dropped him off in our first carline. I could tell he was nervous. Yesterday, he said he was nervous to start school and meet new friends but once he met his friends a bunch of times he wouldn’t be nervous anymore. 😊 Such a brave boy he is. So glad his cousin Jace will be in the room next to his!

Caden and Regan also started a new daycare closer to our house. It’s been a transition but they’re doing great.

Lunch packing is in full swing now. We have had a lot of transition this year especially these last few months. These boys are so resilient and I am so glad I get to help through it all. 🙏🏼🥰

SNACK TIME! My kids are heading to different schools/daycares next week and I’m going to have to send each of them with lunch and 1-2 snacks each. 🤪(We’ve been so spoiled these last 5 years😭). Im already stressing over this because I know how my brain works. I can’t just send a snack that isn’t completely balanced. So I’ve been mentally preparing for a while now, and thought this might be helpful for you all too!

Balanced snacks can be variety of different combos but here is the basic criteria I like to check off in my head. Keep in mind, the purpose of a snack for adults and children is to nourish our bodies by providing energy and satisfy hunger. We want the snack to provide enough energy until the next meal. So BALANCE is key!

What does this look like? Well for an adult it is:

✅Carbohydrates: about 15-45g
✅Protein: about 20-30g
✅Fat: about 5-10g

Keep in mind the amount is dependent on the age and activity level of an individual. (Kids need more like 7g protein, depending on their age) I honestly don’t count the grams of each nutrient but focus on the components of each food item.

Hey there! Did you know there are 6 essential nutrients? Usually you only hear about 3 of them. . . Carbohydrates, Proteins and Fats. These 3 in particular are considered macronutrients (or macros for some of you). ⁠

Macronutrients are those that provide energy or calories to our bodies. They are considered macronutrients because they are needed in large quantities for optimal growth and development.⁠

Then there are micronutrients which include your vitamins and minerals. Essential for optimal health and immune function, providing no energy, but necessary to help convert those macronutrients into energy for our body. ⁠

Don't let those photos fool you. You can get all necessary vitamins and minerals through whole foods, however sometimes it's hard to get the amounts needed for some people. ⁠

Then there is water. While water provides no energy to our bodies, it is just as important as oxygen to us. Our bodies are made up of 50-70% water. Wow! Usually as little as a 2% loss of water can inhibit performance and a 20% loss could cause life threatening problems. ⁠

Follow along as we dive into each of these nutrients and discuss their importance, functions and best sources. ⁠

I’m always looking for good quick on-the-go options for athletes I work with. Their schedules are crazy and the last thing they have time to do (or the desire to do) is prep during the season. We try to provide options that incorporate carbs for quick energy and protein.


I found these at and wanted to share in case you or your kids need a quick healthy snack. Great snack for before practice or a workout, or during a longer workout/practice.

Energy Balls - these are yummy. There’s plenty of recipes floating around but thought I’d share mine with ya.


1 cup instant oats
1/4 cup ground flax
1/4 cup almond butter
1/4 cup honey (or maple syrup)
1/4 dark chocolate chips
1/2 tsp Vanilla
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon

Mix together. Roll into 1 tbsp size balls. Refrigerate for 30 mins. Enjoy. •

These are great on the go snacks or little sweet treat after dinner.
