Arc for the River Valley

The Arc offers a wide variety of exciting and stimulating activities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

There are more than 4.6 million Americans who live with an intellectual or developmental disability (I/DD). At the local level, in Sebastian and Crawford counties alone, 25% of children/adults are living with a "cognitive disability" that impacts their lives. These individuals need services and support to become valued, contributing members of their communities. The Arc for the River Valley focuses on providing recreational activities as well as advocacy and educational support for individuals with I/DD and their caregivers. The Arc serves a membership of over 460 members. With your past support we were able to continue to keep our member dues low, to keep our activities and events free, and to provide free snacks and drinks to members. To continue our current services as well as add new ones, we need your continued support. Due to the economic issues, 2020 was a difficult year financially for all non-profits. Please consider giving a tax deductible donation to the Arc for the River Valley. Your donation will help us continue to provide support and services to those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Arc for the River Valley is a proud United Way partner agency. Reminder of our closure for this holiday season! 📆
The Arc will be closed from December 24th-January 5th. Our last day open will be December 23rd for this month. We will see our members back to regular activities on Tuesday, January 6th! We hope everyone has a wonderful time with family this Christmas and Happy New years from The Arc! 🧡

Santa visited the elementary school next to the Arc today, and all of our members were so excited. We convinced him to stop by the Arc for an extra special surprise visit. Everyone loved taking pictures and sharing their Christmas wishes.

If anyone wants to make them come true, here’s a few things that our members asked Santa for:

Art Class from yesterday!
This weeks are class our members were able to decorate their very own Christmas trees. Lots of fun and wonderful trees just in time for Christmas next week🎄Comment below which one was your favorite!

A Christmas Lunch with The Arc! 🎄
Join us Tuesday, December 23rd for a very special Christmas Lunch with The Arc at 2pm! We’d love to see all of our members and their families next Tuesday and we'll also be hosting special guests from the Marines. We hope to see you there! 🎅

Two art projects! Last week we made Christmas ornaments with a spot for our members photos, and this week we made sensory snowmen with Orbees! They had so much fun dyeing the water beads and putting the snowmen together.

Reminder today at 1:00pm we will have Paul Uduezue the Executive Director from Independent Southern Solutions speaking at The Arc. He will be discussing and sharing how they assist as advocates and certified job coaches to meet individual needs. Come prepared to ask questions about how they can help you to prepare for jobs in our community!

The 2025 Christmas dance was so much fun! It was a great evening with Santa, enjoying dancing and visiting with all our members who came out!
