Today, on Native American Heritage Day, we honor the enduring cultures, history, and contributions of American Indians and Alaska Natives.
This day, observed after Thanksgiving, reminds us to recognize the strength and spirit of Indigenous peoples — their deep connection to the land, their sacred traditions, and their continued fight for visibility and justice.
Dr. Maya Angelou once wrote in “Just Like Job”:
“You said to lean on your arm and I’m leaning,
You said to trust in your love and I’m trusting,
You said to call on your name and I’m calling,
I’m stepping out on your word.”
May we draw inspiration from those words as we uplift Native voices and stand in reverence for generations who have endured with faith, dignity, and grace.
