5 SIGNS YOU NEED A DETOX

" Detoxification is a natural part of our body’s daily functions. Going to the bathroom and sweating are just two examples of how we release toxins from our body. Unfortunately, the process doesn’t always work as efficiently as it should as a result of our diet, environmental pollution, stress, and lack of sleep. The result? A toxic waste dump festering in our bodies, which can cause a wide range of symptoms that can wreak havoc on our lives and health.
To put it into greater context, imagine living in a very small space. What would it be like if you could only remove 20% of the trash you brought in? How does that space feel after a week? How about a month? Now imagine what this would be like in a year. Pretty nasty, huh? This is how your cells feel when they cannot release toxins and waste.

HERE ARE FIVE TELL-TALE SIGNS THAT YOUR BODY IS SCREAMING FOR A DETOX:

1. ENERGY DRAIN
One of the main complaints that I hear from clients is that they are exhausted, have no energy, and rely on caffeinated pick-me-ups like coffee and (cringe) diet soda to get through the day. This begs the question, why are we so darn tired? Put simply, we’re sleeping less, stressing more, and eating far worse than the 20 through 50-somethings of several decades ago.

2. EXCESS WEIGHT
A toxic body is typically an overweight one, and usually the result of a heavily processed diet, fraught with chemicals, pesticides, preservatives, and booze. Removing toxins, reducing your chemical load, and essentially creating a “clean slate” in an overtaxed system can (and will) create a shift in the body where weight falls off effortlessly. Yes, really.

3. SUGAR CRAVINGS
If you’re among the vast majority of Americans who have a serious sweet tooth, you’re in good company. The nature of food addiction, more specifically, sugar addition, has been studied and shown to be extremely common and as intense as addictions to opiates like co***ne and he**in. Part of the reason it’s so hard to kick the habit is that over time, our brains actually become addicted to the natural opioids that are triggered by sugar consumption. Like with drugs, a diet loaded with sugar can generate excessive reward signals in the brain which can override self-control and lead to addiction. In fact, researchers at Princeton University report that sugar-loving mice demonstrate all three criteria of addiction: increased intake, withdrawal, and cravings that lead to relapse. Yowza.

4. BRAIN FOG
Also known as monkey mind, mommy brain, or my personal favorite, “dumb as rocks”, this phenomena exhibits itself when your mind completely drifts off doing even the simplest of tasks, partaking in a conversation, or anything else that requires you to focus. “Hello, McFly?”

5. TUMMY TROUBLES
In the form of indigestion, bloating, constipation, or reflux, these woes are quite literally the direct result of “garbage in, garbage out”. These symptoms can result from undiagnosed food allergies or sensitivities (think gluten, processed dairy, etc.) as well as your healthy gut bacteria (ground zero for your entire immune system) being out of whack.
Other symptoms include poor sleep, headaches, puffy eyes and dark circles, allergies, frequent illness, stress, mood swings, skin breakouts, body odor, and chronic pain. Long term, toxins can cause inflammation and lead to more serious conditions like autoimmunity, heart disease, or cancer."

I'm sure you have, but have you ever stopped long enough to realize the connections within our body?
If our blood sugars are imbalanced, that means our hormones are imbalanced. You don't have to be diabetic to have blood sugar issues. If we don't give proper attention to balancing our blood sugars, this can eventually develop poor health.
A few Symptoms of blood sugar imbalance:

"SIGNS of Blood Sugar Imbalance
1. Darkened skin along the jawline or neck. This darkening of the skin is called acanthosis nigra and occurs due to elevated insulin levels present with elevated blood sugar. It can also be found in areas of the body with creases such as the armpits or under the breasts.
2. Extra abdominal fat, especially in the upper abdomen is a classic sign of blood sugar disturbance. Trunkal fat can include fat on the back, chest sides of the waist and shoulder blade areas.
3. Base of the neck fat pad. Like belly fat, the base of the neck fat is very specific to elevated blood sugar and is a kind of fat that tends to be very inflammatory.
4. Enlarged breasts for men. Elevated blood sugar in men stimulates activity of an enzyme that shifts testosterone to estrogen which then promotes growth of breast tissue.
SYMPTOMS of Blood Sugar Imbalance
1. Fatigue. Feeling tired is a hallmark symptom of blood sugar imbalance and particularly so when it occurs after eating. If it’s bad enough that you can’t hold your eyes open after you eat that is a sure sign of dysregulation of your insulin which normally lowers your blood sugar.
2. Cravings. Especially for sweets and especially after you eat. Another strong sign of poorly regulated blood sugar.
3. Feeling super charged after eating. As much as we think that our food should give us energy it actually should do nothing but satisfy hunger and maintain the energy you already have. That supercharged feeling after eating can a be a symptom of low blood sugar prior to eating. (I’m not counting the effect of caffeine here).
4. Poor focus or attention. When you notice that you can’t continue to focus on what you are doing especially when it involves listening to someone, this can be a classic sign of falling blood sugar. Irritability, depression or frustration can accompany this.
5. Low to no appetite for breakfast. Another hallmark symptom of elevated blood sugar.
