International Women's Day was a big day for me--First day as a published author, which is super cool! ✍️ 🥳 But more than that, it's the launch of something much bigger for me. Not only is this my first year working with a burn survivor society and volunteering, it's the first time for me to share my burn survivor story publicly. I have never had a problem telling people one-to-one. I just never really wanted it to be part of my identity--preferring to blend in, or better yet, fade into the back of the room. I didn't want to stand out, but be seen as "normal." That train of thought hasn't really worked for me I suppose.
I have been on a journey of self-discovery and improvement over the course of at least sixteen years, and that journey will hopefully never end. I love learning new things! There have been a few key moments in my life where a lightbulb finally went off and I shifted direction. The chapter I contributed to this co-authored book with 12 other empowered women is a story of those key shifts in my perspective.
The book, "Empowering Women Empower Women" is on amazon kindle for now, released by a publisher in Australia and it's already #1 over there! I will be buying printed copies to sell and have some sort of party this spring, but for now you can get on Amazon 🥳 for 99cents.
Thank you to all of my close friends and family that helped read through drafts and provide me with incredible support through this process. It was a last-minute decision, and scary, but I did it! It has already opened up pathways of communication with family I haven't spoken to in a long time, and I have learned new information about my parents which for me, is gold.
More to come! 🤩❤️
