On MLK day I want to share:

Everyone quotes:

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.

They often quote it when arguing that race should not be seen or used in conversation. In order to move forward we have to acknowledge differences, acknowledge battles others have based on those differences, and stand up to the systems that continue to allow the battles to remain in place.

As a mental health professional, it is important to me to stand with and for those that face racism and discrimination on a daily basis. We should never discount a story that isn’t ours and instead listen and learn and become an ally.

And a reminder that he also said:

Human progress is neither automatic nor inevitable... Every step toward the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering, and struggle; the tireless exertions and passionate concern of dedicated individuals

Christmas Eve with family, a Cowboys win, and some Mexican food.

Finished wrapping gifts that I saved all for today. Zaria baked cookies for Santa, and Zaylea went to bed early for the big day. Stockings are stuffed and showers are all taken. Ready for Christmas morning 🎄
