What parts of you are leading your life?

The more awareness of this that you have,
The deeper understanding of yourself that you build

This leads to: self growth, more conscious living and more felt empowerment within

•~

Your habits
Your choices
Your patterns

Your identities
Your decisions
Your impulses

These are all connected to different parts of you

•~

Look at the lists in the photo below

These are your “parts”

Which of these do you identify most with?

•~

IFS Therapy or “parts work” changed my life

This work helps you see that you are not just 1 person

You are built of many parts that create and lead your personal experience

The more disconnected and out of presence we live,

The harder it can be to spot the parts active in that moment

•~

• Managers - These are your protector parts that avoid, prevent or control against threats of anything painful to you

• Fire Fighters - These are reactive protectors that react in response to a perceived threat to you

• Exiles - These are the parts of us that we hide, avoid, deny or push away

• Core Self - This is who you are at your core and who the parts are working to protect

•~

If you would like 1:1 support in parts work, understanding your parts and navigating your parts, please message me

I work with clients in this and would love to support you

Judging a man for zoning out will only make him zone out more

Why?

Zoning out is a learned form of self protection for a man

It creates the needed space of disconnection and pause from the layers of stress, overwhelm or drain occurring in his body, nervous system and mind in that moment

This is created from childhood

•~

From childhood and on, men are met with being chronically criticized and shut down in their stress response, communication, expression, emotions, energy and fullness

Because of this, their inner system (nervous system) associates stress, communication, emotions, expression and criticism as felt “threats”

•~

When communication, emotional expression or stress become heavy or draining,

A man’s nervous system jumps in to signal the felt threat within and zoning out happens naturally to protect himself from it all

•~

The less our nervous system and brain have access to processing and navigating something without an end result of felt threat or pain - the more these areas build the association and wiring for them to feel and be “too much”

We conditioned men to need zoning out in order to navigate life because we continually shut them down in their expressing, emotions, communication or stress responses from childhood on

•~

The next time a man in your life zones out, remember this post ❤️

Hold compassion for him
Give him space vs shaming him for it
Allow him to return to presence at his speed

•~

You can communicate your noticing of his zoning out and desire for more presence with him without shutting down his learned, natural path of protection in zoning out

This is how he begins to heal ❤️

The changes we wish to create in our lives start in how we speak to ourselves everyday

What does that look like for you?
Do you speak to yourself with intention?

•~

Notice - how did your body feel when you said “I matter” to yourself?

Notice - how did your body feel when you said “I am allowed to slow down” to yourself?

•~

Our lives and patterns we follow are built on the stories, memories and beliefs that have been conditioned into us from childhood

Were you shown that you matter?
Were you shown you were allowed to slow down?
Were you shown to speak love to yourself?

•~

We change our lives by changing the story

As each new day begins, reflect with yourself:

How do I want to be spoken to?
Am I speaking to myself that way?

Every new moment is a chance for change
A chance to change the story

It starts with you 🤍

Today marks 11 years blood clot free ❤️

11 years ago today, I had an experimental vascular bypass surgery at Mayo Clinic that was successful and saved my life

•~

From 2010-2014, I lived with chronic blood clotting that left me living in ERs, hospitals, doctor’s offices and surgical tables

I was a mystery case

•~

After 14+ unsuccessful stent surgeries, I was left with “we dont know how to help you anymore”

The team at Mayo Clinic took on my case

•~

Dr Peter Gloviczki (a magician turned vascular surgeon) saw me hopeless, numb and in fear and assured me, I would get my life back

“You will be walking again.”

He was right.

I went from living in hospitals and unable to walk without swollen legs or pain to hiking and walking again

•~

I hold Dr Gloviczki and the Mayo Clinic team in my heart forever

God brought me to them and they saved my life

•~

A blood clot can kill you in a seconds time

An estimated 247 people die each day from blood clots

I almost did

My live was saved again and again

That is a gift from God

•~

For the last 12+ years now, I have devoted myself to prioritizing really living and also taking care of my health

I saw how quickly life can end and change and how often we take this life and our health for granted

I took both for granted for years

Never again.

•~

Thank you God ❤️

11 years clot free and a lifetime to go

Chronic suppression is poison to a man

It slowly eats away at him

His body starts to deteriorate
His mind starts to seek escapes
His spirit begins to feel worn down
His communication becomes reactive, scattered, distant or shut down completely

•~

Society and women claim to desire “strong, stable men” and yet, from childhood on - men are taught to suppress

This does not build strong men, It destroys them

•~

When a man chronically suppresses and goes without supportive ways or spaces to process or let go of what’s been suppressed, it turns into:

-cancer
-isolation
-addiction
-headaches
-zoning out
-binge eating

-body tension
-health decline
-chasing relief
-suicidal ideation
-attention seeking
-adrenaline seeking

-restlessness
-mood swings
-binge drinking
-anger outbursts
-high blood pressure
-inability to hold presence
-impulsive decision making
-chronic m**turbation / p*** addiction + more

•~

Men - where and how do you remove your armor?

Where are you safe to be received and listened to?

•~

The greatest gift we can give men is the reminder - it is safe not to suppress around us

Reminding them - suppressing does not make them stronger and processing or expressing does not make them weaker

What is pushed down, finds another way to speak or control a man

•~

To save men, we must begin to have this conversation

We must begin to start creating safety for them to process in supportive ways

•~

I have worked 1:1 with men for years now in chronic suppression

If you would like help in moving away from suppression and unsupportive outlets of release to building supportive outlets for yourself

I stopped trying to fix myself

This is when I started healing

•~

I stopped trying to breathe the anxiety away
I stopped trying to self help book myself out of the real pain that lived inside of me
I stopped trying to perfect my diet and lifestyle to fix my aching body and lose the weight

Instead, I listened
I became curious
I offered myself love instead of shame
I honored the layers that lived inside of me

Everything started to change

•~

What parts of yourself do you try to hide, avoid or pretend they arent there?

What parts of yourself are you trying to self help away or shame until they change?

The anger?
The anxiety?
The avoider?
The over eating?
The perfectionism?
The procrastinator?

Meeting these parts of you that you avoid or hide with curiosity and compassion is the path to their healing and removal from running your life

•~

You are not a project
You are not something to fix

Honor yourself as you are

Watch your life change

❤️

How do you show love to yourself? ✨

This one reflection can change your life

•~

The relationship you have with yourself sets the tone for every relationship you hold in your life

With life
With love
With money
With people
With expression

•~

If you neglect showing love to yourself, this slowly impacts your mood, capacity, energy, health and communication

•~

Simple ways to show love to yourself

• slow down
• set boundaries
• give yourself grace
• celebrate your wins
• say no when you need to

• slow and deepen your breaths
• take time to do what you enjoy
• ask yourself “what do you need?”
• be present with your own touch
• reflect with curiosity, not judgment

Give love yourself today
Everyday

Every choice we make, creates a path ✨

What are you doing consistently?

This becomes your natural go to

•~

Every habit we have is our path most followed

•~

The more we do something,
The more the brain will reach to follow that path

The more we follow that path without thought,

The stronger that pathway becomes and the harder it is to break away from following that choice / habit

•~

Each time we pick up our phone when we feel stressed, we are strengthening that path in our brain to do it again

Each time we choose to move our body when we feel stressed, we are strengthening that path for the brain to say “I do this when I feel stressed”

•~

Habits are simply regularly followed paths

We change our habits by creating new options and paths to follow

•~

Before you reach to choose it again,

Pause
Notice
Relax your body
Deepen your breath
Offer yourself a new option / path

•~

If you would like 1:1 support with breaking habits, creating new paths and stress management tools, please message me

I would love to support you ✨

Technology stimulates us + disconnects us📱

The more time in stimulation,
The more dysregulation we can feel

•~

Dysregulation in our nervous system can look like:

-fatigue
-tension
-brain fog
-zoning out
-restlessness
-feeling wired
-mood swings
-perfectionism
-body symptoms

-anger outbursts
-difficulty focusing
-difficulty making decisions
-emotionally reacting vs intentional responding
-reaching to self soothe (drinking, scrolling, etc)

•~

Notice how much of your day is spent with technology and stimulation

Plan breaks and take note of the differences in how you feel

We were never created to be constantly stimulated

•~

What does disconnection from stimulation look like for you?

How do you reconnect, to you? ✨

The pain holds wisdom
The pain is a door

•~

For most of my life, I fought against pain

I saw it as the enemy

I resisted It
I resented it
I ran away from it
I dissociated it away
I distracted myself away

Anyone else relate here?

•~

It wasn’t until I finally stopped fighting the pain, allowed myself to sit with it and allow it to speak to me - that I understood its root and purpose

Pain wanted to wake me up
Pain wanted me to see more clearly
Pain wanted me to love myself more

•~

Pain led me to my life purpose
Pain made me more compassionate
Pain opened up deeper wisdom within me

•~

Meet the pain with curiosity

It holds a message
It holds a path

When your mind is feeling scattered:

Find your body
Find your breath
Find your touch
Find your connection to your senses

Listen to the sound of your own voice
Speak affirmation of peace into you

•~

Each of these, helps ground us:
From the mind, back into the body

The more suppression into the body and disconnection from the body and ourselves

The more scattered the mind

•~

We were never created for chronic stimulation
Our mind can become scattered when we are removed from presence:

With ourselves
With life
With stillness

Find yourself
You are home

Notice the shift ✨

What does play look like in your life? 😊

Play is one of the best tools for stress relief

As we get older, we can become disconnected from prioritizing play and fun in our days

This leaves us:
-more tense
-more reactive
-more fatigued
-reaching to zone out
-grasping to distractions
-less able to feel joy, peace or pleasure

•~

The more we prioritize little moments of play, laughter and joy into our days and lives

The more we open space to hold emotion, stress and responsibility in our lives without shut down

•~

Yesterday, I stopped to swing at my local park

This moment of play recharged me for the rest of my work day 😊

•~

Side note: Swinging / the motion of swinging is supportive for regulating our nervous system

Our nervous system and regulation of it is connected to our capacity to hold emotions, stress and overwhelm

•~

When’s the last time you played?
When’s the last time you swung on swings?
