Melissa began practicing yoga over a decade ago. Yoga’s ability to heal became abundantly clear to Melissa after years of living with the painful effects of multiple sports related injuries. She found yoga to be the only therapy to give her true physical and mental relief. It became obvious her path was to share this message with the world. She became a full-time Bikram teacher in 2009. Since her Bikram Yoga training she has continued her education, getting certified in Restorative Yoga, Synergy Partner Yoga, Kids Yoga and Pre/Postnatal Yoga. Off the Mat Melissa strives to blend yoga principals into all aspects of her life. Melissa founded Let’s Balance Your Body a health and wellness brand that is dedicated to spreading the message of inspiration and wellness through social media, yoga events, transformational workshops and retreats. She has a true zest for life and is always seeking new ways to incorporate alternative approaches into her practice and teaching.

✨🙏✝️🧧🎊🌚As we step into the opening of Lent, the Chinese New Year, Ramadan and a new moon I can’t help but feel we are standing on the edge of a super-charged spiritual awakening.

When we look back across history, so many sacred traditions align through the practice of fasting — each expressed differently, yet all rooted in the same intention: creating closeness with God, Spirit, the Universe, Christ. Different languages… one deeper truth.

This season feels deeply aligned with the work I guide women through every day.

Lent isn’t just about giving something up — it’s about creating space.
Space to listen.
Space to soften.
Space to reconnect with the quiet wisdom within.

Fasting, when approached with intention, becomes more than physical — it becomes a soul connection. A doorway to divine messages, deeper intuition, and the gentle clarity that comes when we slow down enough to truly hear ourselves.

A gentle reminder today — love isn’t just something we give away… it’s something we practice with ourselves first.

Nourish your body.Protect your peace.Love yourself fully.

Whether today feels joyful, quiet, messy, beautiful, or somewhere in between — you are worthy of care, softness, and compassion exactly as you are.

🕊️ 💕☮️Today feels hopeful meaningful in many ways.

As I reflect on the monks walking across the country for peace, Valentine’s Day upon us and the Metta Prayer being widely shared my heart goes back to my dear late Aunt Kathy — a warrior, a human rights advocate, and someone who embodied love and resilience through more than 25 years of battling cancers.😔

When she passed we all honored her in our own way. I wanted to share what she had shared with me - Her interested in buddhist teachings - One being meditation and the Meta prayer. With a broken heart 💔 I stood in front of the people who loved her most and led this loving-kindness meditation — words that felt simple, but carried so much weight in hopes her memory and work would live on.

✨ May I be filled with love and kindness.
✨ May I be well.
✨ May I be peaceful and at ease.
✨ May I be happy.

😌I am deeply grateful to see this prayer being shared so widely in these tumultuous times. These are lessons I had the privilege of growing up with — reminders that love, compassion, and peace are practices, not destinations. And this is the way to solve what matters.

😌And truthfully… not every day looks peaceful on my insides.
But mindfulness keeps bringing me back to the same knowing:
peace begins within, and each of us has a role in cultivating it — in our own hearts and in the spaces we hold for others.

🤍This is why we practice.
Not to be perfect.
Not to bypass the hard things.
But to return — again and again — to presence, to breath, to love.

🤍 Self-love isn’t selfish. It’s the foundation of how we show up for our families, our communities, and even strangers we may never meet.

💟Today, whether you’re celebrating love, remembering someone you miss, or simply moving through the day — pause for a moment.😌

Place a hand on your heart.😌👋🤍
Take a breath.
And offer yourself the same kindness you so freely give to others. Start with self!
