Melissa began practicing yoga over a decade ago. Yoga’s ability to heal became abundantly clear to Melissa after years of living with the painful effects of multiple sports related injuries. She found yoga to be the only therapy to give her true physical and mental relief. It became obvious her path was to share this message with the world. She became a full-time Bikram teacher in 2009. Since her Bikram Yoga training she has continued her education, getting certified in Restorative Yoga, Synergy Partner Yoga, Kids Yoga and Pre/Postnatal Yoga. Off the Mat Melissa strives to blend yoga principals into all aspects of her life. Melissa founded Let’s Balance Your Body a health and wellness brand that is dedicated to spreading the message of inspiration and wellness through social media, yoga events, transformational workshops and retreats. She has a true zest for life and is always seeking new ways to incorporate alternative approaches into her practice and teaching.

I’ve spent years in the kitchen cooking for my family, finding ways to honor our traditions and stay rooted in well-being. Food has always been my love language — the thing that brings us back to each other, back to ourselves.🥰🧑🏻‍🍳

And today’s photo?
It’s me in the kitchen wearing the adorable (and slightly ridiculous 😂) apron + chef hat my husband brought back from Italy on a work trip. It made me laugh, it made me feel loved, and it reminded me exactly why I cook the way I do: with joy, with heart, and without the stress.😘

✨Because cooking shouldn’t feel overwhelming.
It shouldn’t feel like pressure or perfection.
It should feel fun, nourishing, simple — like something that brings your family together instead of draining your energy.

And that’s exactly why my book is officially out.

Sharing one of our Fam Fav’s - straight from the APPS & SIDES section of “Healthy-ish…”—
AUNT GIGI’S ARTICHOKE DIP 💚

This reimagined COMFORT FOOD brings all the cozy, creamy comfort we love — with a little nutritious twist. Artichokes are loaded with fiber, and using avocado mayo or Greek yogurt lightens things up and is a sure good way to ditch any chemical-based mayonnaise while keeping that rich, delicious flavor.

🧑🏻‍🍳 Ingredients
• 2 cans artichokes, drained & roughly chopped
• 1½ cups shredded mozzarella
• 1½ cups shredded real parmesan (no filler!)
• 1 cup avocado mayo or Greek yogurt
• 1–2 tbsp garlic salt

🔥 Directions
1️⃣ Preheat oven to 350°F
2️⃣ Mix all ingredients in a large bowl
3️⃣ Transfer to white French Corningware (classic!)
4️⃣ Bake for 40 minutes, until bubbly & golden
5️⃣ Serve hot with pita chips, crostini, tortilla chips, or cut veggies

✨ Tip: Make it vegan by subbing plant-based cheese & mayo/yogurt alternatives!

CRANBERRY SALSA ❤️

✨ We’ve stumbled upon a new favorite holiday tradition! ✨
Every year between Thanksgiving and Christmas, cranberries become a staple in our home. We love stringing cranberry reindeer garlands, using them in decorations — and of course, making this fresh cranberry salsa! 🍒

Here’s a fun tip: to test if cranberries are fresh, gently bounce them on the counter. If they don’t bounce back, it’s time to let them go. (Kids love this part — though maybe with a little supervision 😄).

Cranberry Salsa
Ingredients:
• 2 cups fresh cranberries, rinsed and drained
• 1 jalapeño pepper, seeded and finely chopped
• ¼ cup red onion, finely chopped
• 1 tbsp fresh ginger, peeled and grated
• ¼ cup fresh cilantro, chopped
• ¼ cup maple syrup (adjust to taste)
• Juice + zest of 1 lime
• Pinch of salt

To serve: Manchego cheese triangles + Simple Truth Rosemary Crackers

Directions:
1. Pulse cranberries in a food processor until coarsely chopped (or chop by hand for a chunkier texture).
2. Combine with jalapeño, onion, ginger, and cilantro.
3. Stir in maple syrup, lime juice, and zest. Season with salt.
4. Chill for 30 minutes or overnight for the best flavor.
5. Serve with Manchego cheese and rosemary crackers.

A perfect balance of sweet, spicy, zesty, and fresh — the ultimate holiday bite! 💫

As we move into the holidays, let’s choose comfort over chaos.

The clock rolled back and gave us an hour — consider it a built-in reset button. Use it well. ⏰

Sundays are for grounding — not hustling.
☕️🤗For warm mugs, soft sweaters, and food that feels like a hug from the inside out.

Today I’m leaning into soul-nourishing food that reminds me that nourishment can feel like love.😍
