I hear people say “I hate people” a lot.
But what if people are more like lemons? 🍋
I’ll be honest—I’ve never really liked fruit in general. I don’t fully trust it. The expectation is there, but the delivery isn’t always. You bite in expecting sweet… and sometimes you get bland.
Or sour.
Or mealy.
But lemons? Lemons are different. A lemon is exactly what it is—bright, sharp, honest. You don’t cut into one and get surprised. It’s consistent. It shows up as itself every time.
Even people who don’t like lemons still rely on them.
In baking. In cooking. In drinks.
We love what lemons do—how they balance, sharpen, and transform everything around them. Same lemon. Different outcome.
It all depends on context, combination, and intention.
Sure, once in a while you cut into a lemon and it’s gone bad—but most of the time, you know exactly what you’re getting.
Maybe people are like that too.
Not everyone is meant to be enjoyed raw.
Not everyone is dessert. But many are essential ingredients. Maybe it’s not that we hate people. Maybe we just don’t trust unmet expectations.
