When unresolved trauma from your own past is holding you back, it can be hard to know where to turn. Untreated trauma can cause us to respond in ways that feel unmanageable.

That's where EMDR therapy comes in.

By using eye movements, tapping, or sounds to stimulate both sides of the brain, EMDR can help you process and release traumatic memories, reducing their hold on your thoughts and emotions.

With the support of a therapist and the power of EMDR, you can begin to break free from the chains of the past and create a brighter future for yourself and your family.

If you're ready to take the next step in your healing journey, I'm here to help. I specialize in EMDR therapy and Christian counseling, offering a safe and supportive space to explore your feelings, gain insights, and grow.

What they see us do, is what children usually apply later on πŸ‘€

Our response to mistakes can have a powerful impact on our children's mindset and attitude toward learning.

By modeling resilience, positivity, and a growth mindset, we can help our children to develop the skills and mindset they need to thrive in an ever-changing world.

πŸ’‘4 WAYS YOU CAN COPE πŸ’‘

1. Scale back on unnecessary tasks.
2. Prioritize emotional and physical health over other needs.
3. Seek out support from others who understand these stressors.
4. If you develop symptoms of flashbacks, exhaustion, nightmares, or physiological changes for longer than 2 weeks, consult a physician and/or therapist to help.

Traumatic stress symptoms can be treated and made better even if they have lasted years.

However, earlier treatment is always better!

Generational trauma will persist until it is recognized and addressed. Fatalistic attitudes are often a sign of generational trauma. β€οΈβ€πŸ©Ή

Statements like, ""things have always been this way"", ""this is just how we are or what we do"" indicate possible trauma responses that should be explored.

Stay kind and curious as you work for change. Sometimes, our families will not join our efforts to address past trauma.

While this hurts, your change is enough to influence future generations!

Healing is WORK, but our families and other relationships are worth it!

Being a therapist requires one of the highest levels of training for one of the lowest levels of reimbursement in healthcare. Therapists are at risk of vicarious trauma as they work with others' struggles and traumas.

While it may seem that therapists' hourly rates are expensive, most people do not know the costs of gaining and maintaining licensure, training, insurance, and our own self-care that is required to do the job. The rewards of our work are many; and we are honored to carry others' burdens...

But we don't talk enough about the real costs of our work. If you are considering this career, a new therapist, or a therapy client, know that there are hidden costs that influence our hourly rates.

EVERY CHILD IS DIFFERENT 🎯

Every child is an individual, and every child has their own story.

Your child's diagnosis shouldn't define their life.

No matter what your child's diagnosis is, you are the expert.

Your love, support, and guidance are essential.

In my experience, parenting neurodivergent children require us to change many aspects of our lives. While change is difficult, it is also an invitation to growth and new ways of seeing the world. Loving my children has opened many new relationships, perspectives, and experiences than I anticipated.

Trauma is a word we often associate with the worst human experiences.

But trauma can also result from chronic stress or relational wounds.

When left untreated, trauma can lead to a wide range of physical symptoms, including chronic pain, digestive issues, and even heart disease.

Trauma therapy helps individuals and families develop healthy coping mechanisms and improve their resilience, which can be incredibly beneficial in managing future stressors and challenges.

If you're looking for a trauma therapist who specializes in EMDR therapy, book a call today. Link in my bio πŸ’Œ

I know what it's like to raise a child with exceptionalities...

Public meltdowns are one of the most stressful experiences for us because of stigma and misunderstanding.

Here are some tips for navigating public meltdowns:

1. Remember that you are the expert on your child and what they need in that moment.
2. Stay focused on your connection with your child so that you can help them regulate.
3. If possible, guide or move your child to a more private location to reduce stimuli that might be contributing to their struggle.
4. Stay calm yourself. Use a low, slow voice and short phrases to reassure your child and offer help.
5. Stay connected and present with your child. Ignore others who are trying to intervene unless there is a safety issue. If you cannot ignore them, explain your child has special needs and you are able to handle this situation.
6. After the meltdown has passed, care for yourself. It takes a lot of energy to stay calm and help your child. Make sure that you have what you need.

If you're looking for extra support as a parent to learn these skills, connect with me TODAY.
