This year we have been so delayed with haying due to wet weather. The last few days we had a mad dash to get our hay in with a storm looming in the forecast. Warm days and cold nights this time of year means hay doesn’t dry out very quickly with the dew that comes on the hay each morning. Today we had a small window to try to get some hay that was already cut and drying out, we needed to get it raked and baled and hauled in before the rain hit, otherwise it would be a complete loss with how much rain we have in the forecast ahead. The coolest thing happened, we had 360° of an ominous sky around our fields that looked just like this. We could see lightning coming and hear the roaring thunder however, the rain didn’t hit our fields til we got all the hay baled and into our barns! 🙏 I’m still in awe of how that worked out today. We haven’t always had it that way, and lost a big part of one field earlier this Summer due to a big storm. But today I’m so grateful. We needed this hay for Winter and I’m so glad it worked out.
