My Next Novel!

I am excited to introduce my next novel to everyone, on many levels. It is the fourth of nine in the Jay Mountain Healing Series, titled Deep Rivers Running in the Earth.

In this novel, my characters speak of the rivers and water in the earth and the channels of energy that run through each of us. The ancient Chinese writers likened our bodies, spirits, energy systems, and general physiology to the earth. They looked to nature to understand themselves and each other. We both have areas where the energy is concentrated—Lay Lines in the earth, and meridians in our bodies. The practice of Acupuncture uses a knowledge of these meridians to promote health and cure illnesses.

Of course, in our modern day, with our technological bent, we look for the explanations of these meridians in physical terms and we try to study the effects of Acupuncture. Acupuncture channels and points are well described in the Eastern literature, and, of late, confirmed using SQUID detectors that can see and measure the energetic qualities of the energies in these areas. MRIs relate the effects of Acupuncture on our brains and nervous systems. There is no reasonable person who can look at that data and deny the findings.

The other theme in the novel is the Shamanic understanding of man’s position in the world and his relationship to the earth. After the recent UN report, let’s call it what it is—GLOBAL WARMING!—my lead characters understand the earth as being our mother and race to heal the earth before it turns on mankind and eliminates us.

Please look for announcements about the launch of the book and enjoy reading my website: douglasspowellauthor.com, where I discuss Integrative Medicine and use my novels as examples.

We were pleased to conclude the year long course in Acupuncture for Physicians in Maryland over the last weekend. The teaching hours were long, but the rewards to the patients of the military and civilian physicians will be vast. We can reduce the use of narcotics and treat a wide variety of illnesses with no side effects. This makes all the difference in the world to our wounded veterans.
