This Thanksgiving, we have been reflecting on what we are most grateful for. At the very top of that list is you, our amazing WPC family. 🧡🐾

Every single day, you trust us with something truly priceless: the care, comfort, and happiness of the pets who mean the world to you. Whether we are stopping by for a quick visit, staying overnight, providing live-in care, or helping your pets be part of your most important moments, we hold that responsibility with so much love and pride.

Thank you for welcoming us into your homes and into your pets’ daily lives. Thank you for allowing us to build real relationships with each and every animal we care for. We love the shy pets who slowly open up to us, the goofy ones who make us laugh, the seniors who need gentle attention, and the special-needs babies who remind us how important compassion and ongoing training truly are.

Every wagging tail, every nuzzle with a nose, every bunny hop, chirp, squeak, and happy dance fills our days with joy. Your support, your referrals, your kind words, and your trust are the reason WPC continues to grow and serve our community with heart.

From all of us at Woof and Purr Concierge, thank you for being part of our family and letting us be a part of yours. We are deeply thankful for you and for every pet we have the privilege to care for💚.

Happy Thanksgiving from our WPC family to yours!

📚🐾 It's ! You're probably noticing a ton of these hard, brown balls everywhere around your neighborhood lately. They're called hickory nuts. Or some people call them pignuts because there's a saying that pigs are the only animal that will eat them because of the extremely hard shell and bitter meat. We also have a few clients that love to try to snack on them on their walks. And while they're a staple for squirrels, deer, and those pigs mentioned earlier- they're known to cause GI upset for pups that eat a few too many. We recommend carrying some training treats on your walks and "trading" your pup for them so they stay safe and happy😊!

‼️RABIES ALERT‼️ Please keep your kitties indoors and your pups on leash. And, as always, keep them up to date on the rabies vaccine (or have their titers checked).

This press release is published at the request of the Florida Department of Health in Alachua County.

The Florida Department of Health in Alachua County (DOH-Alachua) is issuing a rabies alert in Alachua County in response to a confirmed case of rabies in a stray kitten that was found in an area west of High Springs off of County Road 236 on November 6, 2025. DOH-Alachua is monitoring rabies among wild animals in the area. All residents and visitors should be aware that rabies is currently present in the wild animal population.

People and domestic animals should always avoid physical contact with wild animals (e.g., raccoons, bats, foxes, skunks, otters, bobcats, coyotes), which carry a higher risk of human exposure and a need for rabies post-exposure treatment. If you are exposed to rabies, receiving appropriate treatment after exposure will protect you from the risk of rabies.

This rabies alert is for 60 days and includes the following boundaries in Alachua County:

• Northern boundary: NW County Road 236
• Southern boundary: NW 190 Ave
• Eastern boundary: Interstate 75
• Western boundary: NW County Road 236

Take the following precautions to prevent rabies exposure:

• Immunize your pets and livestock based on your veterinarian’s recommended schedule.
• Keep pets under direct supervision and on a leash, and keep livestock secured on your property. If an animal bites your pet or livestock, seek veterinary assistance for the animal immediately and contact Alachua County Animal Control at 352-264-6870.
• Avoid contact with wild or stray animals. Do not handle, feed, or unintentionally attract them with outdoor pet food, open garbage cans, or other sources of food. If you have been bitten or scratched by a wild or domestic animal, seek medical attention, and report the injury to DOH-Alachua by calling 352-225-4167.
• Never adopt wild animals or bring them into your home; instead, contact a licensed wildlife rehabilitator.
• Prevent wildlife, including bats, from entering living quarters or occupied spaces in homes, schools, and other similar areas where they might come in contact with people and pets.

🥰 Happy ! This post is particularly special because we're celebrating a HUGE milestone with our sweet client, Smalls. While his brother, Biggie, is a social butterfly, Smalls takes a bit of time to warm up to people. We have had many bookings with them, and Smalls has stayed under his parents' bed each time. (This is completely normal behavior for more timid or anxious kitties.) We understand that trust takes time and patience. Visit after visit, we'd ensure that Smalls was safe and happy, but the farthest he would come while we were in the home was to the doorway of the bedroom. But this most recent visit we had a breakthrough! Camille was playing with Biggie, and Smalls came and sat in the doorway. Then he moved to the living room. Then to the couch. And then- it happened: Smalls initiated contact! This was the most heartwarming, exciting, and beautiful moment. We could not be more grateful to have earned Smalls' trust. His mom was thrilled, too! It's hard to put into words what this seemingly small interaction meant. We are so honored to care for every animal, to create a special bond, and to respect and treat them as the individuals they are.💚

Last week, the Woof & Purr Concierge team had the opportunity to participate in a specialized training class led by Jamie from . It was an incredible experience for the team! Jamie thoughtfully put together a session tailored specifically for professional pet sitters, focusing on key skills every sitter should know to keep pets safe, comfortable, and well-cared for. Our team reviewed canine body language, proper leash-handling techniques for calm and controlled walks, and essential CPR basics to ensure we’re always prepared for emergencies.

Continuing education is a cornerstone of our work at WPC. Pets rely on us not just for companionship but for their safety and well-being, and that requires more than simply loving animals- it requires skill, awareness, and ongoing learning. Trainings like this allow us to stay current, confident, and connected as a team. This commitment to growing our knowledge is one of the biggest reasons WPC stands apart from the average pet sitter. We invest the time, the training, and the care needed to provide the highest level of service.

We’re incredibly grateful to Jamie for putting this class together and for making it engaging, clear, and hands-on. And a huge thank-you to Shaba’s mom for allowing her sweet girl to join us as our eager (and very adorable) example. It made the class even more meaningful to be able to practice with a real, willing pup.

At WPC, we believe that education empowers us to offer safer, smarter, and more compassionate care. We can’t wait for the next team training coming in December that will teach an extended lesson on CPR and first aid. Stay tuned for the update!
