Sarkis Family Psychiatry

Sarkis Family Psychiatry Sarkis Family Psychiatry is a full-service outpatient psychiatric clinic located in Gainesville, FL.

EHS Medical Practice PA was created by Dr. Elias H Sarkis in 1991 with a vision to provide the best possible psychiatric care to the children and families of north-central Florida. One of his goals is to make available, when appropriate, alternatives to the traditional healthcare services. Sarkis Family Psychiatry has expanded over the years and now offers patients the opportunity to get involved in clinical trials through Sarkis Clinical Trials. Sarkis Clinical Trials offers studies for children, adolescents, and adults for a wide range of mental health-related issues at absolutely no cost. Some of our current studies are for depression, ADHD, PTSD, bipolar disorder, anxiety, postpartum depression, migraines, and autism. 🧔 Thanksgiving Food Drive – Give Thanks, Give Back 🧔

This season, Sarkis Family Psychiatry is proud to support our neighbors through a Thanksgiving Food Drive, happening now through November 20th!

We’re collecting canned foods and non-perishable items to help families and school children in need across Alachua, Bradford, Dixie, Gilchrist, and Levy counties. Every donation—big or small—makes a difference in bringing warmth, comfort, and nourishment to our community this holiday season.

Drop off your donations at Sarkis Family Psychiatry during our office hours of 9:00am-5:00pm Monday-Thursday.

In addition to June being Men's Mental Health Awareness Month, it is also PTSD Awareness Month.

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, or PTSD, is a mental condition that results from either experiencing or witnessing a life-threatening event. Traumatic events can include assault, combat, serious accidents, or a natural disaster. According to the National Institutes of Health, symptoms may include nightmares, uncontrollable thoughts about the event, emotional flashbacks, and avoidance of distressing memories.

It is important not just this month, but every month to understand PTSD, raise awareness, and find support or be someone's support.

June is Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month 🧠

According to Mental Health America, the US male population is 151,781,326 while the average for males affected by depression per year is 6 million. Depression is just 1 of the 5 main mental health problems affecting men, with the other 4 being anxiety, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, and psychosis or schizophrenia.
Unfortunately, there is still a large stigma around men’s mental health. This results in many men not seeking treatment. Asking for help is not weak, in fact it takes so much strength to do so.
