I used to be the kind of person who didn’t really take medication. Vitamins made me want to throw up and I was uninsured for a lot of my adult life. Now is a different story—this is one week of meds, vitamins, and supplements. Some of them prescribed, some doctor recommended, some are probably snake oil, but someone else with Dercum’s Disease recommended it so I’m trying it out. The last year has been a constant trial and error of meds, diets, therapies, and more. Some days I’m ready to give up and some days I fill up my pill pack and get ready to tackle a new week. Wish me luck!

Bang Bang Chicken…Salad? So, I was following ‘s but I wanted some more veg. So I played it on a bed of romaine lettuce and added sliced radishes and shirataki noodles. The sauce is so good! I doubled the recipe because I knew we would want a lot.

This is 52. That’s all I really know. Nothing is what I thought it would be and it’s all perfect. Even the really sh*tty stuff. In the last year I’ve been diagnosed with and and . It takes what little energy I have to figure out how to manage all of these things. The year before, I had my gallbladder removed, the inside of my uterus ‘shaved’ and almost died from a pulmonary embolism. Oh yeah, then there’s COVID. I got that for Christmas and luckily it wasn’t too bad except for the day I spiked a fever and the pain flare in my whole body was so bad I ended up in the ER. I often walk with a cane now and have applied for a disability parking placard. But I am surprisingly ok despite all of this. I am at the beach and celebrating my birthday with the newer parts of my family, my husband and his sister and I am content. I’m am so unsure about the future. I don’t know how to plan ahead with chronic illness. I’m not sure what I want to do or can do. Theatre has lost its excitement for me after working with too many abusers, egomaniacs, and narcissists. But I still enjoy teaching it and I hope I am helping a little to create justice-led artists who can make challenging work without causing harm. I don’t know where I’m going with all this. Just getting all introspective on my birthday.

Sometimes you just make a smoothie that is IG worthy. Sadly, the beautiful color is not coming through. I call this my MF’in smoothie. Because most days if I’m not feeling up to cooking, I don’t eat or order out. But in my head, I say “just make a MF’in smoothie!” And today I did. It’s delicious too. That’s all.

Today is the first day I have felt okay since my COVID symptoms started on 12/30. I’m still stuffy and sleepy and foggy and I feel like my taste receptors are not working totally. But I managed to do some cooking and prep for Spring semester which is the most I’ve e done in one day in all of 2022. This on top of my fibromyalgia and Dercum’s disease has been a lot to handle. Paul has managed to keep testing negative despite our lack of quarantine from each other. Everything is exhausting. Writing this wears me out. I can’t really focus for long. But it will get better. Oh the irony of canceling holiday plans to avoid getting and spreading the virus only to get it anyway. anyway, Happy New Year everyone! Sorry this is late! 🎉🎉🥳🥳🍾🍾

I made a floofy wreath for our door! I haven’t been able to do much decorating this season but I wanted to finish this little project. Super easy to make and uses up a bunch of my stash. That means I can go buy more right?
