The announcements continue!

Also returning in March is the New Moon Sacred Stories Book Club.

We will be discussing a new sacred story every other month beginning with "Do Nothing" by Celeste Headlee on March 31st.

The idea of being able doing nothing is very sacred to me and I cannot wait to dive into this topic with you all!

This will be virtual and the link will be in my bio and on the website.

Hope to see you there!

Happy Full Moon all!

I am coming out of hibernation and am excited to announce the return of one of my favorite free offerings - Full Moon Ancestor Circles.

Are you interested in learning more about who the ancestors are and how to work with them? This is the perfect way to do so.

I hope you will join me virtually beginning in March as we return to diving deep into all things ancestor related.

I have A LOT of ancestor related events planned for this year and cannot wait to begin this journey together.

Will I see you there?

Why do we try to keep the same pace of life all year around?

The simplest answer is because we have not been taught or offered another way. Our society praises constant progress and accomplishment at the expense of rest and retreat. As a result we do not allow ourselves this much needed time to slow down.

While it is likely that our list of to-dos does not lessen this time of year, Winter is not a time for crossing things off that list. It is a time for reflection, embodiment of wisdom, and planning for the time of action that is just over the horizon.

My Winter work currently involves a lot of laying around reading, journaling, divination, deep introspection, ancestral communication, and tea drinking.

What does your Winter work look like?

I got a good reminder from a mushroom ancestor today - Reishi aka the Yoda of the plant world.

"Reishi is not some soft, clingy mushroom but instead a strong, structured, gravity-defying shelf. She asks no less from you: how can you defy anything keeping you from finding meaning, purpose, and health?"
- Maia Toll

Like all the best teachers Reishi shows you the path but lets you walk it for yourself encouraging you to find your own strength along the way.

We all have to put in the work and walk the path for ourselves even if we stumble along the way.

What is you your relationship with smoke?

What is your relationship with the Air element, the medium through which we receive the medicine of smoke?

I am by nature a feeler and a very sensual being who needs to engage my sense of smell most strongly when grounding into my body.

I live most of my time up in my mind and have found that nothing pulls me down as quickly as breathing in the smoke of some of my favorite plants.

Energetically smoke can benefit us in many ways as well. If we wish to cleanse, open, or balance our selves or our space there is a smoke for that.

I have a daily ritual of burning sage, palo santo, and sweet grass in both the morning and evening most days. This, for me, is the ideal way to set the tone for my day and for my sleep.

At night when I am open to communicating with the ancestors I will also burn and/or inhale (aka smoke) mugwort.

Wait . . . smoke it? Yes you read that right. We are all aware that people smoke plants but generally have a very skewed and often negative view on what taking smoke in via smoking looks like.

My favorite plant to smoke (seen in the second image) is Lavender. This is a nearly daily ritual for me that brings me a calm that is indescribable.

Of course plants can be taken in, in a variety of ways and there are some plants that I need a different medium for (for example there are some plants I prefer in water - as a tea - as opposed to as smoke). We should all take it upon ourselves to explore how we best take in the medicine the plant and mineral beings offer us.

Would you like to go on this journey together?

[Please be aware of where you source all of your plants from and be sure you have the knowledge to properly prepare the plants you are choosing to take in through any medium]

What does Wintering mean to you?

When I first heard this term it brought forth ideas of relocating to another place, likely a much warmer place, to avoid the cold, dark death that the Winter season ushers in. I am not surprised that this is what first came to my mind considering the tendency our culture has to avoid all things that create stillness, introspection, and discomfort of any sort.

When I began diving deeper into Ayurveda the importance of making seasonal adjustments in self-care and lifestyle was brought to my attention in a very real way. It all made perfect sense and it angered me to realize that I had already gone so far in life without being shown this wisdom.

Last year I came across an incredible book titled Wintering by Katherine May and yet again my eyes were opened to a brand new idea, the personal, life-altering Wintering that happens to each of us at various stages in our lives. The times when things that are no longer serving us begin falling away and we experience our own death of sorts to the ways we have known and held tight to.

I am deep in that experience of a personal Wintering. I feel the beautiful Spring coming but it is still a little ways off and I know I must sit in the death and discomfort a little longer. My challenge at this time is to stay in it, to embrace the discomfort and trust the process.

This is a time when my energy needs, more than ever, to be directed inward and while realistically some outward energy must be exerted from time to time to continue to hold my place in society I share this so that you all know I am very intentionally hibernating and doing some inner work and will reemerge refreshed by my retreat and rest when the time feels right.

Until then, peace to you all in your own seasonal or personal Wintering ❄ 💙.

Happy New Moon!

While I am not big on New Year's resolutions I am a huge fan of intention setting and how magical is it that with the turning of this calendar year the New Moon also enters the scene?

As many of you know the New Moon is a time for setting intentions for the next cycle. Every year I choose a word that I believe embodies what the year ahead holds for me and with the energy of the New Moon amplifying this year's intention I know that some amazing alignment is happening.

I don't generally know why the word I choose manifests itself but the past few years have shown me that I don't need to know why I just need to lean in fully.

The last few years have gone like so . . .
2020 - Simplify
2021 - Transform

And this year the most prominent word on my heart and in all signs being sent my way is TRUST.

So mote it be, it has been decided 2022 will be all about trusting the process that is unfolding, listening to my guides, and saying yes without hesitation or fear.

Here we go!

Do you have a New Moon or 2022 intention you are placing energy into at this time?

The new year came and went with all the magic I expected but I always struggle with the opposing energy of movement, achievement, and newness that our society pushes this time of year.

Aside from the calendar saying that it is the second day of a new year, the shift to Winter has just made itself know. The lessons of this time of year, the need to retreat inward, to rest, to restore, to release and to prepare for the new growth that Spring will usher in has just begun.

So if you are not in full release new offerings, set new intentions, or become a whole new person mode just yet then great me neither. Let's stop trying so hard to fight the natural flow of energy nature offers us this time of year and learn to embody the sacred wisdom of Winter.

I have many amazing things to offer you via Sacred Life in 2022 and am excited to release them but like the plants that have died and await their time to reemerge from their slumber in the dirt they are still being created, nurtured, and given the space they need to become what they are meant to be.

So rest friends, enjoy this time of ease and I'll be back with more magic soon.

XO,
L
