Yesterday a group of 15 Sumner County Volunteer fire fighters completed an Emergency Medical Responder Course that consisted of 72 hours of training spaning over 3 months. This course allows volunteer firefighters to provide more emrgency medical service access to the citzens in the county.
These students parcipated in many scenarios and lectures over the duration of the course to prepare them to go out and respond to calls in theor respectove zones in the communities. The students had the opportunity to dissect a pig heart and see the anatomy and also see pig lungs that resemeble the human lungs, and many other skill. Lastly the instructors took the opportunity to host an mass casulity incident training for the students so that they will be prepared in the case it ever happems.
Congratulations to the volunteer firefighters for successfully completing the course. The volunteer firefighters present in the class were from the following departments: Southeast Volunteer Fire Department,Shackle Island Volunteer Fire Department, Millersville Fire Department, Number One Volunteer Fire Department, and White House Community Volunteer Fire Department.
Instructors for the course are Paramedic Instructor Coordinator Alex Smith and Emergency Medical Responder Instructor Coordinator Jonathan Arnold.
