A major step forward for New Jersey’s first responders.
Assemblywoman Carol Murphy has formally introduced A6075, a bill that would formally designate Basic Life Support Services as an essential service in our state. This measure would require municipalities to provide consistent, reliable EMS coverage and allow them to secure services through multiple models, from public agencies to contracted providers.
The NJ FMBA worked directly with Assemblywoman Murphy to bring this legislation forward, addressing long standing gaps in how EMS is recognized and supported. This change will strengthen funding, improve recruitment and retention, and ensure EMS professionals receive the resources, training, and support they need to keep communities safe.
