The District 1 Hospital Emergency Planning Committee, in conjunction with federal, state and local partners had an exercise on October 14th, 2017 to prepare responders for disaster.
While the rain cut it short, the lessons learned in practice, helps to make our Northwest Indiana area safer and better prepared for emergencies. The Exercise included all 5 counties, Lake, Newton, Porter, Jasper & LaPorte. This included 16 Hospitals, multiple extended care facilities, dialysis centers, health departments all playing at the same time.
78 moulaged simulated patients (many from the IN & IL Civil Air Patrol), presented as victims in a Terrerist simulated event. Multiple EMS providers, Mass Casualty & Mass Fatality worked through a scenario of field triage with Hammond Fire Department. Porter County EMA Volunteers set up district assets to be used for the exercise.

Thank you to the City of Hammond, the GSA & Franciscan Health Hammond for use of their facilities during the on scene portion of the event.
