"Griffin is 6 and had difficulty with keeping still and keeping his hands to himself. He is a good kid overall; just had a hard time with focus.

He was also having meltdowns constantly whenever he was told "no" or something didn't go his way. He would drop to the floor, sob and run and hide. And it took a lot of coaxing to get him out from hiding and to calm him down.

Dr. Garrett was recommended to me by my mom. She knows him and had heard good things about his practice.

So, I made the initial appointment to learn more about his techniques and program.

He was able to explain everything to me so I understood it. I never thought about the relationship between brain maturity and behavior.

When he evaluated Finn for the 1st time he did various movements/exercises to see if Finn still had some "Primitive Reflexes"; which he did. I had no idea that how Finn was moving was considered abnormal.

His focus has improved. He was able to build a model of Bumblebee from transformers that had over 100 pieces. He did it for 2 hours without a meltdown or getting distracted. Before this program, that would have been impossible.

I was skeptical at first, but after the first 2 weeks of the program, I was able to see changes.

He was able to stop himself from having a meltdown. He was able to talk through the issue instead of just reacting.

I haven't received a note from school about keeping his hands to himself or not focusing on his work since starting this program."

🧠 and body DISCONNECTED -> Reconnected!

You’ll see as soon and the toes point out, the arms rotate out. When the toes rotate in, the arms rotate in (especially the right).

This occurs when the brain can differentiate between different body parts; typically because of retained primitive reflexes.

After only 6 weeks of rehab we inhibited his primitive reflexes and improved the function of his 🧠! (Black shirt).

You’ll notice his brain can coordinate the movements correctly with very little arm movement.

This has lead to fewer meltdowns, improved focus and decreased impulsivity.

This is very simple test to try at home.

The Basal Ganglia in the brain is responsible for turning systems on and off.

It’s has 3 specific loops that may be impacting your child.

(1) Cognitive Loop > think OCD and Anxiety…these kids perseverate or get stuck on things

(2) Motor Loop > think TICS, stimming or any repetitive movements

(3) Limbic Loop > emotional dysregulation

A great test for the Basal Ganglia is the Neural Zoomer + by Vibrant labs. It will let us know if there is either an auto-immunity or inflammatory issue within your child’s BG.

70-80% of the neurons in our brain reside in the Cerebellum. It coordinates EVERYTHING in the brain…

- movement and coordination
- balance and posture
- motor learning
- cognitive support

Think of misaligned spinal joints AKA subluxations as small movement disorders that send poor information into the brain; specifically the CEREBELLUM.

Poor information into the brain = poor processing by the brain and therefore, = poor information being sent from the brain to the body.

This poor output can resemble something as simple as balance and coordination issues, or it could lead to more significant challenges such as learning and neurodivergent challenges.

#3…the third thing I’d do if my child had a developmental delay and/or a neurodevelopmental diagnosis > have them assessed for Primitive Reflexes!

These infantile reflexes are the foundation to brain developmental and when they don’t go away within the first year of life, the brain is left in an immature state > impacting motor and cognitive ability.

Fortunately, with the proper rehabilitation these reflexes can go away; signaling maturation of the brain and ultimately leading to improved cognition and behavior.

OCD - TICS - AUTISM - ADHD > we know the brain is massively involved; specifically the Basal Ganglia.

Running a NEURAL ZOOMER from Vibrant labs will show if there is any auto-immunity and/or inflammation impacting this area of the brain (along with the cerebellum).

Because Strep, Epstein-Barr and even the flu have been known bind to the Basal Ganglia; subsequently altering its ability to filter movements and emotions correctly.

Yes, we can rehabilitate the brain, but only when the inflammation and auto-immunity are under control.

No amount of therapy can overcome inflammation w/in the brain so we must start with, at the very least, a Neural Zoomer to rule that out.

Gray Matter or the structural components (networks) of the brain are formed within the first 10 years of life. Therefore, the sooner you start (before the age of 10) rehabbing your child’s Neuro-Developmental issues (brain) the greater results you will see. Improvements can happen at any age because we can improve the efficiency of the networks through the White Matter; but those networks must have been formed within those first 10 years.

Enough ATP (energy) and a lack of inflammation are necessary for the developing brain to form connections. Thus, if your child has a learning or behavioral challenge that you have been attempting to improve for quite some time; it might just be due to these two underlying factors. But, the only way to know, is to run some labs! Labs tell us WHY the challenge exists and the exam shows us where/what regions of the brain are impacted.

BRAIN development is based on MOVEMENT…children must move in a specific sequence (lift head > army crawl > crawl) at specific times (milestones) in order for the brain to develop appropriately. Hence why the #1 co-morbid condition associated with developmental delays is ABNORMAL MOVEMENT.
