Crazy but true:

An infusion pump can deliver medication so precisely that it measures flow in drops smaller than a raindrop. We’re talking fractions of a milliliter per hour. That’s life-saving accuracy… until it’s not.

Here’s the kicker:
One tiny air bubble, a sticky keypad, or a worn internal sensor can turn that precision into a silent problem. The pump may look fine, sound fine, and still deliver the wrong dose over hours without setting off alarms. That’s why preventative maintenance isn’t some checkbox chore—it’s the difference between “working” and working correctly.

PM catches drift, pressure inaccuracies, and occlusion issues before they show up at the bedside. In other words, preventative maintenance is what keeps infusion pumps boring—and boring is exactly what you want when medication is flowing directly into a patient’s veins.
