🥶🥶 Stay safe out there!! 🥶🥶
12:30 p.m. Sunday update: ⚠️Georgetown, continue to stay off the roads today (Sunday, Jan. 25, 2026) unless absolutely necessary or in the case of an emergency. If you must get out on the roads, use extreme caution and remember: Four-wheel drive does not improve braking or traction on icy roadways. We haven't seen any ice-related crashes today, because y'all are staying home and safe. Thank you, and please keep it up🙏!
Subfreezing temperatures are expected through midday Tuesday❄️. While we might see some melting as the sun comes out, everything will refreeze once temperatures drop again, meaning the sleet & ice on the roads could remain hazardous at least through Monday.
☝️City facilities are closed today (Sunday, Jan. 25) and will be closed tomorrow (Monday, Jan. 26). Full list of closures & winter weather updates 👉https://georgetowntexas.gov/news_detail_T29_R645.php
Crews continue to work around the clock treating our roads👷. While we understand the challenges winter conditions can create, we are unable to plow all roadways. Our crews prioritize bridges and other elevated surfaces first, followed by major intersections, then arterial roadways, then collector streets. Due to limited supplies of hot sand and deicing materials, we are unfortunately unable to service neighborhood streets at this time.
