There’s a lot of hesitation around medication for mental health. Here’s what’s true:

✔ Medication is not a shortcut.
✔ It’s not a replacement for therapy.
✔ And it’s not the right fit for everyone.
✔ But when symptoms are interfering with sleep, work/school, relationships, or daily life, medication can be a helpful part of a thoughtful, coordinated care plan.

We offer Medication Management services for individuals of all ages in Wisconsin, and we’re now accepting new patients!

Do you consider your family resilient? A recent study from Barna found that only 1 in 7 married parents would be considered “resilient.” That’s sobering… but their research also shows us what helps families grow stronger.

1. Resilient families practice repair, not avoidance - They don’t ignore conflict. They work through it with honesty, humility, and forgiveness.

2. Resilient families seek support after hardship - They don’t carry burdens alone. They lean on trusted relationships, counseling, and faith communities.

3. Resilient families stay connected beyond the home - Shared rhythms like church and serving together strengthen both faith and relationships.

One of our counselors, Katie Hartwig, had the opportunity to spend time with Haven Christian Fellowship, a group of Ethiopian college students gathering at Minnesota State University, Mankato.

After connecting with the group’s leaders, Katie tailored a presentation focused on God-pleasing boundaries and self-care, grounded in both biblical truth and an understanding of the cultural perspectives that shape how we view mental health, community, and support.

“Bring her back, bro!” was the feedback the meeting organizer heard from the students, and we're hoping to be back with this incredible group again.😉

If your church, school, or group is looking for a speaker on mental health topics, we’d love to connect!

There’s something about the first day of spring that feels like a turning point. After months of gray skies, long nights, and being cooped up inside, spring reminds us that change is happening. Even if it’s slow, even if it’s not fully here yet.

You don’t need a big reset to start feeling better. Sometimes it starts with something small. Stepping outside. Noticing the light. Letting your mind breathe for a minute.

New seasons don’t fix everything, but they can be an invitation to begin again.🌱

This week’s wintery weather has a lot of us in the Midwest dreaming about summer…And while it may feel early, now is actually the perfect time to start thinking ahead.

Between busy schedules, travel, and a well-earned break from school, it’s easy for learning (and even faith habits) to take a back seat. But with a little intention, summer can be a season of growth, not just a pause.

This article shares simple, practical ways to help your child:
📖 Stay engaged in reading and faith
➕ Keep math skills sharp in everyday moments
🌿 Grow mentally, physically, and spiritually through time outdoors

It’s not about adding more pressure. It’s about being intentional with the moments you already have.

Paul wasn’t talking about March Midwest weather when he wrote this verse… but the windy, snowy forecast still reminds us of something important.

The hard seasons we face now aren’t the end of the story. God is bringing something better.

Screens are everywhere, and for many families, managing them has become one of the biggest parenting challenges of this generation.

Research continues to show that excessive screen time can affect children’s sleep, mood, relationships, and even academic focus. The good news? Parents can take practical, thoughtful steps to help kids develop healthier habits and a better balance with technology.

See comments for an article from our School Wellness Specialist team sharing insights on helping children build healthier media habits while strengthening family connection along the way.

🎙️ Can you love Jesus and still struggle with anxiety or depression? Can you believe in prayer and still benefit from counseling, or even medication?

These are questions many Christians wrestle with. In a recent Light Talks podcast episode by 922 Ministries, CFS counselor Marc Scherschel joins the conversation about where faith and mental health meet, and why they don’t have to be in conflict.

Can you love Jesus and still struggle with anxiety or depression? Can you believe in prayer and still need counseling—or medication? Too often, faith and mental health get separated into opposing camps. In this episode, we’re bringing them back togethe...

“Should I be taking medication for anxiety or depression?” It’s a question more are quietly asking.

Read our guide to understanding medication for emotional and mental struggles:

In this article, we walk through:
• When emotional struggles may need more support
• How medication can help (and when it might not)
• What talking to a doctor actually looks like
• How faith, therapy, and medication can work together

Medication isn’t one-size-fits-all. But asking honest questions about mental health is a wise and courageous step.

Our Story

As Christians, we have found such joy and peace in God that we desire to share it with others. We not only want to bring the Good News of salvation to those individuals who are of our faith, but we also want to do as the Lord has commanded us in Galatians 6:10, saying: “Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people.”

This is the reason for which Christian Family Solutions (formerly referred to as Wisconsin Lutheran Child & Family Service) was first established—to do good to all people.

On July 13, 1965, the Board of Directors filed the Articles of Incorporation for Wisconsin Lutheran Convalescent Home, Inc. (WLCH). The Green Tree Gardens Convalescent and Nursing Home was purchased, and WLCH began operating the facility on August 1, 1965.

In January of 1966, it was decided that the WLCH was in need of expanded services not only to accommodate more patients and residents, but also to provide social services.
