The Chatham Rescue Squad was honored to present SGT Myers and Officer Gardener of the Chatham Police Department their American Heart Association life saver and a Commendation from the Chatham Rescue Squad at the Village Hall.
Steady and early CPR saves lives. These Officers are examples of what it means to serve a community and we are proud to respond alongside them.

🚁 BIG NEWS FROM CHATHAM RESCUE SQUAD 🚁
The Chatham Rescue Squad is proud to announce the newest addition to our fleet — our very own medical transport helicopter!
That’s right — starting today, we’ll be responding to calls from the air, reducing response times and taking patient care to new heights (literally). Our members have been hard at work training as pilots, flight medics, and ground crew to make this dream a reality.
You may notice a slight breeze around the station… that’s just us gearing up for takeoff. 😎
We’d like to thank the community for their continued support as we expand our services in bold and innovative ways. Keep an eye to the skies — you never know when you’ll see CRS AirCare flying overhead!

Sometimes the best view comes after the storm. 🌈

This evening a beautiful rainbow appeared to end right over the Chatham Rescue Squad, reminding us that even on the busiest or toughest days, there are moments that make us pause and appreciate our community.

We’re proud to serve the Village and Town of Chatham, Canaan, Austerlitz, Ghent and New Lebanon and grateful for the support of the people who make what we do possible every day.

As Black History Month comes to a close, my heart turns with deep gratitude to a group of trailblazers whose courage reshaped an entire profession: Freedom House Ambulance.
In the late 1960s—at a time when inequity was the norm and opportunity was scarce—Freedom House emerged in Pittsburgh as a powerful force for change. These were not just first responders. They were pioneers, visionaries, and heroes, stepping boldly into a field that barely existed and transforming it with skill, innovation, and extraordinary heart.
🚑 Freedom House didn’t just answer emergency calls—they rewrote what emergency care could be.
Their training, their precision, and their compassion created the blueprint for the modern paramedic system used across the nation today.

After 20 hours EMT- B (Baby) Wayne Douglas Altomer entered this world at 0532AM. We congratulate EMT-B (Basic) Laney Altomer on becoming a new mom. EMT-B (Baby) Wayne will now enter a rigorous 18 year training program. His duties will consist of eating, making dirty diapers, and bringing smiles to the people around him. His compensation will be food and gifts. We welcome Wayne to the Chatham Rescue family!!

Yesterday for National Random Acts of Kindness Day your local Rescue Squad dropped off sweet treats to Columbia County Sheriff's Office, Greenport Rescue Squad, and Columbia County NY 911. These dedicated professionals are always lending a hand to our community and organization.

Last night your local Rescue Squad met up with Copake Rescue Squad, Greenport Rescue Squad, Valatie Volunteer Rescue Squad, Inc. and the Columbia County NY EMS Coordinators to receive sensory kits and BEAR Devices. The devices were made possible through Hudson Valley Rotary, Hudson Rotary Club, Kinderhook Tri-Village Rotary Club, Northern Columbia County Rotary, Rotary Club Of Cairo, Rotary Club of Greenville, NY and you, our community.
