Don’t play the comparison game.

Your journey is your journey.

Their journey is their journey.

The highlight reels you see people post online might make you think you are not doing enough or not at the place you should be. It’s probably not true.

Your story matters. The highs and lows you have experienced are part of your story.

Learn what you can today, share what you can to help others have a little bit of a better tomorrow, and let go of what is not yours to carry.

Not just food.
Thoughts. Media. Conversations. Habits.

When you constantly take in stress, comparison, negativity, or chaos, your nervous system learns that as normal. You start craving more of it, even when it does not feel good.

The opposite is also true.
When you consume things that are grounding, honest, and life giving, your mind and body begin to want more of that too.

Awareness is the first shift.

Here are three simple ways to start paying attention and changing things for the better.

DO A DAILY INTAKE CHECK
At the end of the day, ask yourself what did I scroll, listen to, watch, or dwell on the most. No judgment. Just notice patterns.

SWAP…NOT ELIMINATE
You do not have to cut everything out. Try replacing one thing. One account. One playlist. One habit. Small changes still matter.

PAY ATTENTION TO HOW YOU FEEL AFTER
Notice what leaves you anxious, numb, or drained. Notice what helps you feel calmer, clearer, or more yourself. Let your body guide the next choice.

Change usually starts with noticing.
Cravings follow what we repeatedly feed.

You go to therapy because you believe it’s time and you could use some help or guidance.

The first step is usually the hardest. Choosing a therapist, showing up, and sharing your story can feel overwhelming.

Over time, the hope is that you learn skills and begin to trust your ability to work through whatever you’re carrying.

You probably won’t forget why you started therapy. What brought you in may not fully go away. The goal is that you’re able to manage life better than before. You feel less controlled by your past and by the baggage you carry.

We all have baggage. The work is knowing what’s yours to carry and what you can let go of.

As we head into Thanksgiving week, many of us feel a mix of emotions.

We want to make new memories, and some of us hope those memories can help soften the painful ones from our past. This week has a way of bringing everything to the surface. Our hope is that you feel supported and cared for as you move into the holiday.

Take a moment and think of one Thanksgiving memory that brings peace or joy. Slow down and walk through these questions.

Where were you in this memory?
Who was with you?
Who did you hug or spend meaningful time with?
What smells or sounds pull you back into that moment?
What part of that day made you smile, and who shared it with you?
Picture the room or the place in your mind. Let yourself appreciate what that moment meant to you then and what it means today.

If it helps, write down what you are feeling or reach out to someone who came to mind. Good memories can bring healing as we approach the holidays.
