You're probably already feeling that tad bit of brisk air in the mornings (except here in Arizona đŸ˜†), telling you autumn is around the corner. To get into the spirit, plan ahead by tossing a soup or stew in the crockpot for you to cook and freeze. That way, you can have a delicious meal ready to thaw and enjoy, and you can even have a bowl today to get you in the spirit of autumn.

Here are a few of my favorite soups or stew recipes White Bean Enchilada soup, Albondigas, and Sweet Potato bean chili.

Have you ever heard of ashwagandha?

Ashwagandha is a popular adaptogen used in Ayurveda, and its benefits are tremendous. It's known as a stress buster that benefits the adrenals, and with daily use, it can help lower your stress response, among other things.

Ashwagandha can help to lower cortisol levels, help to reduce inflammation, can help to lower cholesterol levels, and much more. It truly is an incredible herb to add to your regimen.

You can consume it in daily capsules, as a tincture, and drink it as a tea. As always, make sure to speak with your doctor about starting any new supplements.

Pro tip: batch cook a few items to use all week long.

Make a batch of grains and greens to eat on throughout the week. You can easily toss these into recipes, use them as side items for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Grains to consider:
• quinoa
• brown rice
• millet

Greens to consider:
• spinach
• kale
• swiss chard

For those of us with Hashimoto’s, we tend to have to deal with a Fatty Liver, which makes us struggle with excess weight or high blood sugar. Having a Fatty Liver can make it more difficult for our body to automatically detox our systems and promotes inflammation. It can also increase gallstones and heart attack risk.
Rather than cutting fat, the actual problem is too much sugar and carbs. The reason for this is because sugar, especially high-fructose corn syrup in soda and junk foods, signals the liver to produce more fat.
Along with managing Hashimoto’s with functional medicine, if necessary, you can reverse fatty liver by adopting a lower-carb, sugar free diet, exercise daily, avoid alcohol and unnecessary medications, lower your inflammation by removing foods from your diet that promote inflammation such as gluten and dairy, take natural anti-inflammatory compounds such as high doses of emulsified turmeric and resveratrol, glutathione, vitamin D, etc., and detox your liver with herbs and compounds that support detoxification.

Do a quick body check-in. Notice where you are holding your tension and let it go. Unclench your jaw, release your shoulders, and take a long, deep breath.

Making sure you're breathing deeply can take some practice, and an excellent way to get yourself into the habit is to do these check-ins throughout the day. You could even set the alarm on your phone for 5x a day so that it prompts you to check in with yourself and feel where you are holding your tension and allow yourself to release it.

A summer squash medley cooked to perfection in the air fryer is a perfect, simple, and delicious side item for any dish this summer.

To cook your summer squash medley, you will:

1. Preheat your air fryer to 400*
2. Slice your squash into coins
3. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle your favorite seasoning
4. Cook for about 7-9 minutes, shaking halfway through.
