🚨 POWER OUTAGE MED SAFETY REMINDER 🚨
Hopefully the weather for the weekend isn't too bad but it never hurts to be prepared.
If the electricity goes out, here’s how to keep insulin, Ozempic®, and Mounjaro® safe 👇
🧊 KEEP IT COLD (BUT DON’T FREEZE!)
Keep meds in the refrigerator if the door stays closed — most fridges hold temp ~4 hours.
If the outage lasts longer, place meds in a cooler with ice packs.
Aim for 36–46°F (2–8°C).
❌ Do NOT let meds freeze — frozen meds should NOT be used.
🌡️ ROOM TEMP RULES
Insulin: Many types are okay at room temp for 28 days or longer. Do not throw it away until you talk to your pharmacist.
Ozempic®-- Good for 56 days at room temp.
Mounjaro®: Good for 21 days at room temp.
(Per manufacturers)
**Compounded products have different storage guidelines--contact the pharmacy who compounded the products for further guidance on those.**
📦 SMART STORAGE TIPS
Don’t leave in a hot car, near a heater, or near windows.
If possible, use a thermometer in your cooler/fridge.
❓WHEN IN DOUBT

We’ll help you decide what’s safe and what needs replacing.
💙 Stay safe, stay warm, and please reach out if you have questions.
This is general guidance—always ask your pharmacist when you have questions about your medication specifically.
