While I don’t personally fit cochlear implants, part of my role as your audiologist is knowing when it’s time to refer for a cochlear implant evaluation. I work closely with trusted colleagues who are specialists in this area.

Here’s the truth: cochlear implants aren’t an overnight solution. They’re a journey. From surgery to activation to ongoing adjustments…it takes time, patience, and support. But the small victories along the way? Hearing a grandchild’s laugh, understanding a conversation in a noisy room, catching the lyrics of a favorite song… those moments make every step worthwhile. 👏

🔇 Tinnitus tip: What NOT to Do! 🚫

If you have tinnitus, you might think that avoiding noise and sitting in total silence will help. After all, you’re already hearing ringing, buzzing, or whooshing. Why add more sound?

❌ Wrong! In fact, silence can make tinnitus worse. When your environment is too quiet, your brain has nothing else to focus on except the tinnitus, making it seem louder, more bothersome, and more intrusive.

What to do instead? Avoid silent spaces! Try:
🎶 Playing soft music
🌊 Using a white noise machine
🌀 Turning on a fan
🌿 Opening a window to let in natural sounds

Meet Eber Dominguez - Eber is a THAD (Temporary Hearing Aid Dispenser) in our Glendale office. If you haven't had a chance to meet him yet, you are missing out!!! Eber is a fantastic guy who truly embodies our Ascent philosophy about our patients always coming first, which is the reason we all love this business - THANK YOU patients!!! Per Eber...."A typical day at my job involves coming in and setting up the instruments and ear cleaning room for the day. Checking my schedule and reading appointment notes of my patients. I then go up to the front and call on my first patient. I will always ask how they are doing and joke with them that they are scheduled today for a little TLC of their hearing aids I just want to make sure that they are working and operating as best as they can!!! I also usually try to sit in on hearing tests and practice with Dr. Perez too, I'm always looking to keep learning"!!!
What is your favorite color? Blue but lately I've also been liking the forest green What's your favorite food? Mexican food; gotta love them tacos and of course my mothers mexican cooking Where would you love to visit? I would love to travel again to Europe; my favorite city I visited last time was Florence, Italy. What is one of your hobbies? I love going out to hike and watch movies, honestly lately I've been doing things out of my comfort zone; most recently I went to a production of Drunk Shakespeare and it was so funny. What's a fun fact about you? - Fun fact about me is that I enjoy singing karaoke and also doing line dances. Are you more introverted or extroverted? A little bit of both, but those that know me say that I am extroverted. What's one of your favorite movies? One of my favorite movies of all time is Star Wars Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith ( I can quote the whole movie). What’s one of your favorite sports? So I don't really keep up with sports like that, my fiance does like the New York Giants so I guess they're my team too?!?! Do you have any kids? or pets? No I do not.
