🎓 Today we honor Kids’ Chance week, October 13-17 - a meaningful reminder of why work in the workers’ compensation community extends far beyond forms and files. For many children, a parent’s workplace injury can suddenly place their dreams of higher education out of reach.
That’s where Kids' Chance of America steps in. This organization provides scholarships to the children of workers who have been catastrophically or fatally injured on the job, ensuring that a family’s loss doesn’t also mean the loss of opportunity. Since its founding, Kids’ Chance has awarded more than 11,000 scholarships, totaling over $42 million nationwide.
One powerful example of this mission in action is Kayla Heller, a Leidos QTC Health Services + Kids' Chance of New Jersey-sponsored scholarship recipient. After the loss of her father, Kayla found support through Kids’ Chance and the strength to continue pursuing her education. Today, she’s a senior at Rider University studying Supply Chain Management—mentoring peers, building new skills, and working toward her degree with purpose and resilience.
Stories like Kayla’s remind us that our work has ripple effects that reach far beyond the immediate claim. Whether we’re reviewing a case, coordinating care, or supporting an injured worker, each interaction holds the potential to change a family’s future.
