Golden Running

Golden Running Based in the foothills of Colorado, Golden Running Academy is the premiere platform for young runners to pursue and attain their distance running goals.

Run for Fun, Run for Life, Go Run!! The Golden Running Academy is a distinctive youth running program based in the foothills of beautiful Golden, Colorado. Our mission is to provide a program where youth have fun and run competitively in middle and long distance events. We believe that running is fun, even more so with a group of peers and coaches who share common goals and passion. As such, the team follows an individual + group mentality which is unique to our program. Running is an activity that is beneficial for everyone, especially kids. The solid aerobic development needed for distance running is something that is built over years of consistent and disciplined training. We view strength conditioning, flexibility and cross training as integral components of the program, for building endurance and preventing injuries and burn-out. At Golden Running Academy, we offer a running program that forges character and inspires a life-long commitment to health and fitness. Developing tomorrow’s top middle and long distance runners is something we take very seriously. We strive to provide tools that will prepare our athletes both physically and mentally, giving them the best opportunity for success. We accomplish this by combining the best coaches and athletes in group workouts and harnessing new methods, tools and science. At Golden Running Academy, we are eager to write an exciting new chapter in youth running – one that reminds us all to be in it for the long run.

Wow! A great weekend for our athletes! From Local races to High School Cross Country!

Bryce raced an altitude 5k and showed us the crowd that Golden sure can run up high! A trend proved by more than a few of our athletes this weekend!

Lily and Blake raced the Fortitude 10K in Fort Collins this weekend and Lily gave her a glimpse of the future! Lily cruised to a sub-45 race with dad just behind. Positive vibes to Blake as he got one last race in before knee surgery today.

Sonja, Katy, and Taylor showed the teams at Lake County Cross Country Invite going 4,5,6, with D'Evelyn filling in 4 of the top 10 spots. This put D'Evelyn over cross town rival Green Mountain by 22 points!

The Golden High contingent raced at the Arapahoe Warrior Invite with top performances all around. Stand out performance from Maggie who finished 5th in the Freshman race. With 2 GHS girls in the top 10 and 3 GHS boys int he top 100. 27 schools represented, what a great showing!

How great is this! The hard work we put in over the summer is showing - especially for the D'Evelyn girls! Katy is ranked #1 3A Freshman after last weekends D'Evelyn Dash! Count it out Katy, Taylor, Sonja, and Kati all took top places - hard work pays off!

From the article:
..Right now, no team is close to enjoying the kind of freshman impact D'Evelyn is enjoying. Katelyn Haerbig and Sonja Morin moved in and set up shop at #1 and #2 on the Jaguar roster. Both were top-ten finishers in Division 1 of the D'Evelyn home meet on Saturday. Both threatened 20 minutes on their initial outing. Taylor Haerbig, yet another freshman, came in at #4 in the order. Yet another freshman, Kati Livingood was at #5. D'Evelyn could be 3A's most improved team this year.

Day 4 Recap:

Lily and Brad got a great cool morning with temps turning up for the tail end of Brad's race and getting toasty for Lily!

A strong lead out in Brad's race pulled the race out single file. Brad moving from 24th to 13th finishing with a very strong last lap.

Lily came out guns blazing, she had guts and got in the mix early. She got boxed in and the pace slowed pulling her into a gapped pack run outside her goals. She went clear of the back pack but couldn't pull in the next group. She finished with a beaming yet exhausted smile 13th in her heat.

Day 3 Update:

Garrett crushed it! Running a 9 second PR and despite not making the All-American Standard he fought the good fight. He hung on to the 8th position for as long as he could manage. When it got away from him, he never gave up, and never got off the gas.

This is the end of the road for Garrett as this will be his last chance to race in the Junior Olympics but time and again he has doubled down his efforts and trained extremely hard for these races.

Garrett was so happy to share this moment with his close and extended family as they live here in Lawrence, Kansas. This is a big moment and culminating moment as he begins his senior year of High School.

We're very excited to see where running takes Garrett in the future!

Day 2- A constant drizzle gave us a slow wet track to contend with along with fast competition.

Sonja ran a sizable :07 PR to finish the 1500 in 4:54 - despite her best efforts she would miss finals by 4 places finishing once again as a Top-20 National Contender l.

Garrett donning the black and blue w/ pink head band had he cheering section you could hear across the field at the 200m line. His family is local and is out to support their hero. Garrett ran a sizable PR as well finishing in 4:18 - :04 of the last qualify spot.

Tomorrow is Garrett's 3000m race and will be his best chance to gain the highly respected All-American Standard with a Top-8 finish. He's seeded with a very fast group - and he's not looking to back down!
