I’ve been thinking a lot about what Bo needs.
When we have a dog in rescue, they take up so much space in my brain. Not in a burdensome way, but in that constant, caring way. I’m always thinking about what they need right now(emotionally, medically, behaviorally) and also what they’ll need long-term to truly thrive.
Still, there’s always that quiet worry: will this animal dog spend the rest of their days in rescue (deeply loved, well cared for) but without a place that’s fully his? That’s the part that weighs on me…
There are so many wonderful humans out there, and I really believe Bo will find his warm, soft place to land.
I updated his Petfinder again to better capture who he really is .. his heart, his personality, the kind of environment where he’ll shine .. and to make it clear that we are willing to be helpful and supportive to adopters or fosters every step of the way.

Bo is a distinguished senior gentleman looking for a soft place to land for his golden years. He is available for adoption, long-term foster, or co-ownership with the rescue to ensure he is supported and cared for for the rest of his life.
Adopting a senior dog can feel scary. Questions about health, time, and “what if” naturally come up. But it doesn’t have to be overwhelming — especially when you’re not doing it alone. We offer lifetime support, and with a senior like Bo, that partnership truly matters.
What this co-ownership and foster could look like:
Co-ownership or long term foster means Bo becomes part of your family, while the rescue remains actively involved in supporting his long-term well-being. This can include:• Ongoing guidance and check-ins• Help coordinating veterinary care if needed• A safety net plan should life circumstances change
You provide the daily love, home, and routine. We provide backup and peace of mind. It’s a team approach centered around giving Bo dignity, stability, and comfort.
Bo is a sweet senior who truly thrives on companionship. At 12 years old, he enjoys staying close to his people and would love a home filled with steady affection, gentle routines, and the simple comfort of being near his humans.
He has lived as an only dog but has been socialized with other dogs his size. If placed with a canine companion, a slow and thoughtful introduction will be important. He would do best with dogs his size and non-dominant personalities. Bo has been cat-tested and would not be appropriate for a cat household, as he shows too much interest and reactivity. He has previously been around children and has done well.
Bo is up to date on all vaccinations, neutered, and consistently maintained on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. He recently had bloodwork and a f***l test — both clear. He has a very small cherry eye that is mild and does not require surgery. Due to his age, he has some mild hearing loss, but it certainly doesn’t impact his quality of life .. he can still hear a treat bag crinkle from across the room.
Bo is being rehomed because his beloved owner is transitioning into a nursing home. This decision was made with deep care and love. For years, Bo provided steady companionship, comfort, and emotional regulation to his elderly owner. He was and is deeply loved. Ensuring his continued well-being means everything to us.
In his younger years, Bo graduated puppy class and learned his basic commands. He is housebroken and understands home routines well. While he can be strong on leash, he has more recently enjoyed the ease of being let out into a yard for bathroom breaks rather than long walks.
He is a gentle, affectionate soul who will make a wonderful companion for the right family. He will be freshly groomed before going to his new home and will come with his food, treats, and comfort items to ease his transition.
Senior dogs have a quiet magic about them. They bond deeply. They appreciate every soft bed, every gentle touch, every safe moment. Bo is ready to give someone his whole heart — he just needs a home willing to choose him.
