Letters,📜 Ledgers📒, and Timber🪵
(A Lesson from Nehemiah)
Reading Nehemiah 2, a few things stand out.
Before Nehemiah built anything,
he was prepared.
He prayed first.
Not a long prayer — just a quick prayer to GOD before answering the king.
👑 Principle: Prayer prepares the person before the work begins.
When the king asked what he wanted,
Nehemiah already knew.
He didn’t hesitate.
He didn’t guess.
He didn’t say, “I’ll figure it out later.”
He asked for letters:
Letters to the governors for safe passage
Letters explaining who he was and why he was moving
These letters were authorization.
They also placed him on record.
Nehemiah wasn’t moving quietly or unofficially.
His assignment was documented.
👑 Principle: GOD-given assignments move with authorization.
He also asked for timber.
Specific materials
For specific purposes
Gates, walls, and even the house he would live in
Faith didn’t make Nehemiah vague.
Faith made him clear.
👑 Principle: Vision requires practical provision.
When the king sent Nehemiah, he also sent captains and horsemen with him.
Nehemiah didn’t ask for that.
GOD knew what he would need.
👑 Principle: Provision follows obedience.
Then opposition showed up.
Sanballat and Tobiah weren’t harmed.
They weren’t displaced.
They were disturbed simply because someone had come to build.
People often “hate” in the everyday sense those whom GOD has called to build in HIS Kingdom.
Nehemiah didn’t stop.
He didn’t explain himself.
He kept building.
👑 Principle: Opposition does not invalidate.
👑 Operating Principle
When GOD assigns the work, HE also establishes the order for how it is to be carried out.
