So it’s 10 Years almost to the minute that I got my last hug from my son . I am eternally grateful that my last in person interaction with him was full of smiles and kidding and a giant bear hug that lifted me off the ground. The lively exuberance of that moment sustains me, still. So, just as I unavoidably relive the horror of that weekend over the next few days - Today I will relive and hang onto those laughs, those smiles and that hug

So, sweet boy, today is your 30th birthday. As I steeled myself for this day - I gave myself permission to say, think, feel anything- except- to ponder who you would have become over this past decade. I will not minimize who you were by fantasizing some make believe you. We may not have had the opportunity to witness more than 20 years of your life - but that is what we were gifted - and that is the you that was, that is... that is the you I am so grateful to have birthed and mothered and loved.
