The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) provides specifications for wheelchair ramps for businesses and public areas. Ramps for personal residences usually aren’t required to meet these specifications, but they are a good reference point to use. ADA ramp slope requirements are for a 1:12 ramp slope ratio, which works out to be one foot of ramp for each inch of rise.

There is a lot to think about when going from rehab to home. Ask many questions before patient is discharged - like what equipment may they need once they are home: wheelchair, ramp, cane, scooter, etc? Do I get these things from rehab center, home care agency, medicare or do I have to buy them?
