Resonate Massage Therapy RELIEVE pain & tensIon. RESTORE movement. RECOVER faster. Carri Bullock, MTPT, LMT, MEd

I specialize in a unique and highly effective approach to the relief of new and chronic muscle, soft tissue, joint, and nerve pain. Advanced training in Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy and Frequency Specific Microcurrent (FSM) are integrated with manual therapy to help identify and treat the underlying cause of pain or muscle dysfunction. I work closely with each client, customizing treatment to relieve pain, improve movement, reduce stress and restore quality of life to get you out enjoying the activities you love. My favorite part of this process is teaching self-care techniques that put the power of becoming AND staying relaxed and pain-free into my clients’ hands. Having personal experience with the frustration of trying everything to relieve chronic pain, then discovering these therapies and getting immediate, permanent relief has made me passionate about helping others enjoy a pain-free, active life. I love this story! 🎣🩵 This gentleman traveled 5 hours to see me for neuropathy, a possible symptom of Parkinson’s (a recent diagnosis).

He was in great shape, but using a walker because he didn’t want to fall. He said he couldn’t feel his feet touching the ground, like walking on 4 inches of styrofoam.

He could only come on the weekend, so I skipped my weekend hikes and set him up for two 90-min sessions, one on Saturday and then again on Sunday.

I did my usual combo of trigger point therapy & FSM, customized specifically for him based on his unique history & symptoms. Added a little DDS massage, which can also help with muscle and nerve issues. ⚡️

He marched out of my office carrying his walker above his head (I was mortified! 😆) and was excited to tell me about his fishing trip when I checked in with him 2 weeks later.

Fix WHY, not where means looking for and treating the underlying cause(s). Most of the time this is far from where you’re feeling the symptoms. Is it trigger point referral? Tissues stuck together by adhesions & scar tissue? Muscle imbalance?

Treat WHY.
THIS is what trigger point therapy & FSM do. They are outcome-based protocols.

I’m grateful I know how to find & treat trigger points to help me get down the trail and finish strong. 🎯🥾

Inner knee pain… #1 culprit is the vastus medialis (VM), or inner quad muscle. Trigger points in this muscle can also cause the knee to be weak or buckle, and are often mistaken for arthritis, tendinitis, & ligament damage. 🧐

The VM has to contract AND lengthen at the same time when going down hills/stairs or squatting. This can cause trigger points when muscles are overloaded. Unstable ankles can also affect the VM.

TrP #1 is found a hand’s WIDTH up from the top of the kneecap about 1/2way between the inner and front of the thigh.
TrP #2 is a hand’s LENGTH from the knee cap and slightly medial from front of the thigh.

I like to use a stacked fist supported by the other hand to compress this muscle on the trail - or grab and lift it at the trigger point (spicy!). I didn’t have a videographer (aka hiking buddy) today but there’s a video posted last April showing this technique. 👊🏻

MCAS is common in hEDS (Hypermobile Ehlers Danlos syndrome) and HSD (Hypermobile spectrum disorder).

It makes sense: Your mast cells are white blood cells located in connective tissues. EDS is a condition that affects your connective tissue.

I learned about these conditions in advanced myofascial trigger point and FSM training.

Do you know anyone with MCAS? Show your support by:
💜 Finding ways to enjoy time together that accommodates their symptoms.
🤍 Educate yourself from credible sources so you can better understand & support them.
💜 Raise awareness: it can be difficult to diagnose and many health care providers are not familiar with it.
🤍 Join online community support groups to make connections with those with similar experiences.

Nutritional stresses & poor gut health are common perpetuating factors for myofascial pain and dysfunction. It could be one of the reasons your pain or muscle problems started, or why they won’t go away. 💪

Here’s some feedback from one of my clients, part of the presentation I gave last week on the benefits of myofascial trigger point therapy & FSM for symptoms of Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder (HSD) & Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hEDS). 🎉

These connective tissue disorders are difficult to diagnose and often misdiagnosed because they can come with a variety of symptoms and other conditions.

Some common symptoms are joint pain/ tightness, frequent injuries (dislocations/ sprains), bruise easily, fatigue, digestive & bladder issues, dizziness/ fainting, poor balance, POTS, MCAS, and more.

Reach out if you would like more info!

There are several national support groups for HSD & EDS, and a local FB group:

We had a lot of fun at my booth yesterday at the 3rd Annual Experiential Wellness Expo - Connecting Community with Innovative Healing Practices.😊🌟

A lot of relaxing, making connections, and turning muscles to ‘smoosh’. And I had a helper this year so more time to customize my treatments. Thank you Lois Pifer!
