Christmas reminds us that the greatest impact is often quiet, steady, and rooted in care.

At Education Beyond the Classroom LLC, we are deeply grateful for the educators, leaders, mentors, families, and partners who show up every day—often unseen, often under-resourced, yet unwavering in their commitment to children.

This season, we honor:
✨ Classrooms filled with patience and perseverance
✨ Leaders choosing people over pressure
✨ Educators shaping futures long before the spotlight ever arrives
✨ Communities doing the hard work together

May this Christmas bring rest where the year has been heavy, hope where the work has felt hard, and joy in knowing that what you do truly matters.

From our EBC family to yours—
Merry Christmas and peace into the New Year!

We care about our impact to lead beyond the classroom.

EBC says Thank you!

We are grateful for our community!!!

This season of reflection, our hearts at Education Beyond the Classroom LLC are overflowing with gratitude. ❤️

We’re thankful for every educator, director, mentor teacher, parent, child, and partner who makes our community stronger. The work you do every day—teaching, comforting, guiding, encouraging, building relationships—matters more than you know.

This year, EBC has seen classrooms grow, programs rise, partnerships deepen, and leaders emerge. None of it happens alone. It takes a community that believes in children and shows up for families.

So today, we simply want to say thank you:
✨ To the teachers who give their best.
✨ To the leaders who support teams with vision and care.
✨ To the families who trust us.
✨ To the partners who lock arms with us to strengthen Michigan’s ECE workforce.
✨ To the children—our reason and our why—who remind us daily what hope looks like.

May this season bring you warmth, rest, and space to reflect on how much your work truly matters.

From our EBC family to yours…
Happy Holidays! 🧡

We are excited for our CEO to lift her voice in this space as an advocate! We hope to see you on the Hill beside her!

Rachelle McKissick-Harris is a trusted voice in Michigan’s Perinatal, Infant, and Early Childhood Mental Health (PIECMH) movement, known for her leadership in amplifying parent and lived experience within statewide systems change efforts. As both a professional and a parent, she bridges perspectives that too often remain separate—helping decision-makers understand what families truly need during pregnancy, infancy, and the early years.

Through her company, Education Beyond the Classroom, LLC, Rachelle partners with state agencies, community organizations, and advocacy coalitions to integrate authentic family engagement into policy, program design, and workforce training. Her work highlights the value of co-creation—ensuring that family voice informs every layer of Michigan’s early childhood and mental health infrastructure.

Rachelle serves as a Parent Leader and facilitator across multiple statewide initiatives, including efforts connected to Think Babies Michigan, MI-AIMH, and the PIECMH workforce and family systems hub. She is known for her clarity, courage, and ability to translate complex systems into language that centers dignity, belonging, and action.

Rooted in the belief that early relational health begins with listening, Rachelle helps professionals, policymakers, and funders see families not as recipients of care, but as partners and leaders in shaping the future of Michigan’s youngest children.

We are so proud of our Founder Rachelle McKissick-Harris, CTC for showing resilience. In 2020 she started a specialization and after five years has completed the Teacher Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Specialization with the University of Colorado Boulder on Coursera!

She will be receiving continuing education credits and a transcript for the completion of all five classes as well as the capstone project from the University. Well done to our leader who models excellence! Check out her page for the video of how she will incorporate this work into EBC training.
