Grand Rapids Minister, Former Boxer James Cutts Releases New Song “Cast Your Cares” July 10.
The new single offers peace and hope in these troubled times.
2020 has been a challenging year. If you are hurting physically, emotionally, and spiritually during these troubled times, the Reverend James G. Cutts has a simple message for you: “Cast Your Cares” on God.
Based on 1 Peter 5:7 (“Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you”), “Cast Your Cares” was written by Kyle Bynoe to provide therapeutic healing to everyone reeling from the many challenges of today. Produced by trillionaire’s Bynoe and Marquise Brown, the single is scheduled for national digital release Friday, July 10, 2020.
“The current plague has turned our world upside down,” Cutts reflects. “Hospitals and funeral homes are overwhelmed. There is a record high rate of depression, su***de, and unemployment worldwide. And now we have the deaths of George Floyd and Rayshard Brooks. People are frantic, and don’t know what to do. The only way out is God!”
Pastor Cutts has walked the walk. He and his wife are currently recovering from COVID-19.
“The virus came in like a flood,” he says. “We were hospitalized, in intensive care. I had a high fever, with chills. I was gasping for oxygen. But the mouth of God breath his life into my nostrils and the Hand of God spared us and raised us back up! We are among those who recovered, not among the more than half-million who died, including many singers.”
During this pandemic Pastor Cutts implores everyone to trust God like never before. “The song says, ‘He will restore you and chase away all your doubts if you cast your cares on Him. By calling out to God in prayer, humbling ourselves as powerless, solely dependent on Him, He alone will heal us. He alone will heal our land.”

“Cast Your Cares” is the latest single from Cutts, a veteran artist whose gospel music career began at age four as a member of his family’s group, the Wings of Faith. Later, he’s crossed paths with three other Grand Rapids legends: the Reverend Al Green, Bishop Marvin Sapp, and 1980s R&B vocal group DeBarge. Cutts eventually became a social worker and counselor, working with at-risk youth, prisoners, and autism organizations in the Grand Rapids area.
A few years ago, Cutts returned to gospel music with the old-school flavored “Jesus Will Fix It.” The song featured his longtime mentor, legendary boxer Floyd Mayweather Sr., known as the “poet laureate of boxing.” Produced by Derrick Lee (Dherico Music), “Jesus Will Fix It” entered the Sirius XM playlist and was one of its most requested songs.
“Cast Your Cares,” a song that evokes the laid-back soulfulness of contemporary gospel music. The single will be available July 10, 2020 on all major digital platforms. Until then, you can listen to “Cast Your Cares” here: www.cuttsj.com
