Sistas In Development and I have partnered together to create this amazing event for our youth. Apart of their earn as you learn program we will be offering a CPR Class during American Heart Month in February! Please be on the look out for the sign up. There will be a small cost of just $10. Students will walk away with an American Heart Association CPR card, a completion certificate from Pulse for the People & Sistas in Development, and a STIPEND! Thats right your child could earn a stipend for attending this class!! Seats are limited to 30, you don’t want your child to miss out. Like this post, share with your family and friends. Why did I start Pulse for the People?

For the past 11 years I’ve worked full time as an emergency medical dispatcher. Countless number of times I’ve heard callers who are afraid or don’t even know how to start CPR! I’ve heard callers yell and scream for an ambulance to “just hurry up and get here” as I’ve already assured them that they are already on the way. I’ve coached so many people; young and old, on being the true first responder in times of an emergency. Hearing the voices of my people being devastated and lost I wanted to do something about it.

I have young boys and a mother who faces some health challenges, we sit and we talk about what to do in an emergency and how to call 911. I asked my oldest if they talked about CPR at school and he replied not really. This also got my gears rolling.

Pulse for the People was birthed because I needed to help my community become more knowledgeable. And I needed to start with the upcoming generation! Starting young builds confidence, courage and leadership skills that will benefit them as they get older. More than we know our youth encourage and inspire adults just as much as we inspire them!

Most importantly I felt God put this in my spirit and in my heart. And when he says GO you have to just trust and push forward!

Hi everyone! 👋

My name is Darmieka France, and I’m the founder of Pulse for the People, a Grand Rapids–based organization dedicated to empowering communities through CPR training

I started Pulse for the People after realizing how many lives could be saved — and how much confidence could be built — if more people had access to CPR training and basic health education. What began as a simple idea to teach a few classes has grown into a mission to empower entire communities.

I’ve had the privilege of partnering with schools, youth programs, and community organizations to equip young people with life-saving skills and confidence to lead. I’m passionate about helping the next generation understand the importance of community service, safety, and self-belief — creating a ripple effect of empowerment that extends beyond the classroom.
