A Standard Timeline After C-Section

Day 0–1:
A woman gives birth via C-section, which is a major abdominal surgery involving several layers of tissue. Recovery begins immediately.

First few days:
She is healing while also learning to care for a newborn, feeding around the clock, and adjusting to interrupted sleep.

Days 3–7:
Hormonal shifts occur, milk supply is establishing, and physical healing continues. Support is often highest during this first week.

Week 2:
Many partners return to work and family support decreases. At the same time, recovery is still ongoing and emotional changes may become more noticeable.

Weeks 3–6:
Internal healing continues, even if the outside incision looks improved. Pain, fatigue, and breastfeeding challenges can still be present.

Cultural perspective:
In many cultures, postpartum women are supported for 30–40 days with rest, nourishing foods, and help with daily tasks to support recovery and bonding.

Common reality in the U.S.:
Many women feel pressure to resume household responsibilities, care for other children, HOST visitors 🫠, and appear “back to normal” before full recovery.

Do not let yourself be isolated:
Postpartum care is important for all mothers and especially for those recovering from surgery, birth trauma, preterm birth, or navigating postpartum anxiety or depression.

What I want all moms to know:
Practical support, patience, and understanding during this season can make a meaningful difference in a mother’s recovery and well-being.

One thing about me is that I’ll always be a sucker for a baby in a bonnet.

I'm just so sorry that you were in the position to flush the toilet in the first place.🥺

This is one of those morbid, horrible details that we often can't share with others because of how dark it feels.

So here's a post telling you that it's okay. Flushing the toilet doesn't mean that you don't value their short life. It doesn't mean that you don't wish you could have buried them, have a funeral, or care for them.

It's okay if you flushed the toilet.
