When you are pregnant you are very limited in what you can take to reduce the many pains you experience when expecting. Thankfully the below alternative options are not only effective but extremely safe for you and baby (and have other benefits for your health rather than side effects).
1. Epsom salt baths work due to the magnesium sulfate ingredient - this reduces muscle and ligament pain and promotes overall body relaxation. If you can, a daily epsom salt bath with warm (not hot!) water changes your pregnancy experience.
2. Movement is key and clinically speaking I have seen the best patient outcomes in those who move and are not sitting all day long. Walking and prenatal yoga are not only gentle and suitable for the entire duration of your pregnancy but promote circulation and alignment of your body.
3. Chiropractic work aligns the pelvis and entire spine to reduce the very common hip and low back pain of pregnancy. Physiotherapy teaches you how to strengthen your body to meet the demands of pregnancy.
4. Emotional support is key - you can be doing all of the above and still have a miserable pregnancy if you are not receiving emotional support and love. Our emotions are intrinsically linked to how we perceive pain, and your mind during pregnancy needs to feel supported and loved so you feel safe to bring this baby into the world.
