National Pediatric Transplant Week takes place during the last full week of National Donate Life Month (NDLM), focusing on the powerful message of ending the pediatric transplant waiting list and honoring recipients, donors and donor families.

The need for pediatric transplant is great – currently, there are more than 2,200 children under the age of 18 on the national transplant waiting list, and 27% of these children are under the age of 5.

You can help by registering your decision to be an organ, eye and tissue donor, and encouraging others to learn more and register.

**Public Acknowledgment**

I extend my gratitude to the Calhoun County Building Commission and the Calhoun County Commission for their dedication and collaborative efforts. Your commitment to fostering a positive impact on our community is commendable and is instrumental in the ongoing dialogue surrounding the deeding of properties associated with the Minnie Hamilton Health System in Grantsville.

Our discussions emphasized the critical economic implications of this transition, particularly the necessity of understanding the federal interest in these properties. It is significant to note that whether owned by the County or Minnie Hamilton Health System, this federal interest ensures that the land will be occupied solely by a healthcare facility, thus cementing our community's commitment to accessible healthcare services. As noted in the current notice of federal interest it is clear that if Minnie Hamilton Health System ceases to exist, there are implications for property management. Either way the Federal government requires an alike industry to take over the assets. This is a safeguard for the community and health care services.

Our conversations highlighted the flexibility that deeding these properties to Minnie Hamilton Health System would provide in financing future projects. It also clarified the federal requirements that necessitate a healthcare industry presence in this asset. The economic impact and community services provided by Minnie Hamilton Health System are vital to local employment and economic development, ensuring that healthcare access remains a priority for our residents.

Transitioning ownership of these properties represents a forward-thinking strategy that aligns with our shared goals to cultivate a robust healthcare environment for the future. Thank you for your unwavering support and commitment to our community's health and well-being.
