What kind of tarot reader would I be if I wasn’t doing my own Year Ahead reading, amirite?

Why do I have three different types? I don’t. They are the same. What IS different is how those readings are conducted:

1. Virtually
2. In-Person
3. Pdf/write up/Recorded

(The last two are slightly more to account for additional time/resources for the reading).

There is an option to add quarterly “follow ups”. That means we will meet after each quarter to review how your reading played out, how it was integrated, and what the next three months has in store. It’s an opportunity to take your Year Ahead reading and keep the momentum going throughout the year. This will only be available in January.

A WEEK OF WHIMS (and 1 plan)

I have the week off from the day job which means I have availability for readings this week I don’t normally have (such as weekdays and later in the evenings). A full-time job and middle-high school kids means only small windows of availability for readings tarot, but I do what I can. So if you’re wanting a reading, this is the time I am MOST available!

Options:
Virtual/Phone
In-Person (DFW area)
PDF via Email
Recorded video reading

And for New Year’s Eve, you can find me over bringing in the new year with tarot readings in the Book Nook.

I meant to share this last week, because I was off then too, but y’know, I was just enjoying some time to myself that I don’t often experience. (9 of Pentacles Magical Hours Tarot)

Book a reading through the link in my bio! Woohoo!✨

BETWEEN THE CARDS

I finally started a blog for my tarot and beyond interests. I want to thank IG for that because I’ve started a lot of blogs, but I never was great at keeping up with em or maintaining cohesiveness with them.

While I enjoy sharing things on IG, there are too many limitations: character count, the inability to properly link things, etc. Especially links- I LOVE to read something and it has a link to take me further and further to other ideas. That’s what I get to do on my blog, share links that explore other topics such as Balthazar the Magi, or the 1957 Soviet Union Ice Queen, and whatever other tangents writing these things might take me.

I love having a place to explore and share the works of other creators, whether in the form of reviews or putting their creations into action.

Above all, it’s an opportunity to express myself as a tarot reader, a curious human, and as a person who loves to share as many “DID YOU KNOW..”s as possible.

I only have a few up, but there are more entries to come. I am going to return to the Personal Oracle cards by that I started sharing a few years ago, along with a few other projects. Overall, it’s my intention that it’s more than me just going on and on about stuff, but an opportunity for the reader/guest to participate and be inspired to go down their own little rabbit holes.

Oh, and the obvious- you can book a reading with me from the same website. I have more availability between now and January 4th.

Gifts of the Magi Tarot Reading

My favorite part of the nativity story has always been about the three magi and their use of astrology to follow the “star of Bethlehem”, but I was always intrigued by the choice of their gifts.

Inspired by this story, I decided to create a little tarot spread to honor my favorite Christmas characters, but specifically, their symbolic gifts of Gold (Kingship), Frankincense (Divinity), and Myrrh (Suffering/Death), each a symbolic foreshadowing of what was to come for little baby Jesus.

Gold: Your Sovereignty
This is about your worth and agency. Where are you ready to lead life more consciously?

Frankincense: Your Divinity
This is about your divine purpose and inner alignment. What helps you feel connected to something larger than yourself?

Myrrh: Your Humanity
This is about the reality of being human and the suffering that comes with that. It’s about finding compassion and honoring your suffering as a human and the wisdom that comes with it.

How These Gifts Work Together
This is about integrating these gifts into practical application. What wisdom is gained when these gifts are honored?

(Included in this image is a reading I did with this spread. You can read more about the reading on my blog “Between the Cards” on my website.)

Winter Solstice Reading
A threshold reading for the longest night and the returning light.

1.What has been washed away in the previous season: Something that’s finished, cleansed from your life/psyche, something you no longer need.
Queen of Swords: Dissolution. The Ice Queen, logos without eros, loosens her grip. A season of hardness, emotional frost, and necessary sharpness comes to an end. In fairy tales, ice queens ruled static realms where little grew. They’re guardians of boundaries which must eventually thaw. Discernment isn’t being washed away here, just the emotional frostbite.

2. A message from the Darkness of the Longest Night: Something you need to know in order to move forward.
The Lovers: Conjunctio. The Lovers at the darkest point of the year is fitting as a sacred marriage that happens in the darkness, not in the daylight. The way forward is through relationship, reciprocity, and integration. Relate rather than judge. In the Winter Solstice myth, this indicates work that happens when nothing appears to be happening.

3. What to bury: Like a bulb that will flower in Spring, something to prepare for, work on; a new possibility to consider.
Judgement: Putrefaction. Old perceptions are laid underground like a bulb. Perception will change. What’s buried isn’t the old self but rather an old, interpretive framework. Vision must rot before it can become revelation. Most importantly (like the last reading), no action is necessary at the moment, but one can trust that perception IS changing.

4. How to support root growth: What you need in order to feel rejuvenated/rested for the next season.
Eight of Pentacles: Cibatio. This is a re-education of the nervous system. This work is fed through repetition, devotion, and embodied care. In the Winter Solstice myth, roots grow because nothing else can.

5. Rebirth of the Sun: What will be revealed as the light returns.
The Fool: Fermentatio. Not naïveté, but new materia. A return to life without armor. The Winter Solstice does not crown the king; it births the child sun.

Readings are about reframing perception.

The cards don’t ask for order rather they ask for presence.
Chaos feels expansive rather than destructive to me here. Unformed, uncertain, and alive with possibility. Beauty emerges not as a fix, but as a way of seeing: meaning revealed without forcing clarity.
Absolute arrives like a full stop. It reminds me that experience may seem or feel fragmented, yet something deeper remains whole.

I pulled a card from the Desert Illuminations deck, and got Temperance in the form of Our Lady of Guadalupe. It felt like she held mettle. She resists extremes, she mediates opposites, and reminds us that we aren’t required to lose ourselves to uncertainty.

In the Jungian process, there is a concept called “holding the tension of opposites” and the point is NOT to resolve the conflict, but to allow something ELSE to emerge (a third different kind of thing) Alchemy teaches that transformation happens by staying with the tension. Jung called this the TRANSCENDENT FUNCTION, the heart of individuation. It’s the number 3. It’s the uniting of opposites. It’s a great conjunction in alchemy.

But not yet. This part is where you still have to sit with what feels chaotic, find beauty wherever or however you can in that, and have trust that something meaningful is already forming.

✨DECK REVIEW Color Field Tarot: A Deck for Everyone and Nobody created by .369 ✨

Systems meets Scrying meets Intuition meets Color - There is a sense of scrying with this deck. Give it time and it will talk.

In this deck, the concept of Force and Form intertwine. Force is typically associated to a “masculine energy” while Form is associated to a “feminine energy”. I mention this because this particular deck has a way of neutralizing these energies into another “third thing” where this balance of systems and intuition create a message. It’s not unlike writing. Thoughts in one’s mind to be conveyed with a system of letters put forth in a system of words, put forth in a system of sentences to bring about a sense of thought-meaning, thought-communication, and thought-understanding without me actually talking to you. In a sense, it’s no different than you reading these words that are really silent thoughts in my head, and as I type this out, trying to pull down the wanderings in my mind that contain feelings and containers of my understanding and interpretation of the deck, well, I suspect that’s exactly how you might experience the deck itself. Still not following? Keep going.

The reader can extract from the images the elemental, zodiacal, kabbalistic, planetary, and even color systems - these systems that represent patterns that the collective agrees upon that have certain connotations of meaning for reality. One could read these cards like that… based on knowledge.

If the reader allows themselves to go further, however, much like staring at the clouds and watching them take form or patterns on the bark of a tree, there is the other sort of communication that comes from imagination or feeling or just a sense of knowing. I think this a great deck to use to have that sort of experience.

The Color Field Tarot is an opportunity to engage with divination on either a material level or astral. Or both. Like the images in the deck itself, it is has both bounds and boundlessness, depending on how it reads you.
