It’s been so hot and with all that’s going on in the world, the heat is just being turned up even more. Inflammation shows up in lots of ways: skin reactions, swelling, or even a heated discussion with someone. These are the body’s natural responses to get us to slow down and pay attention. The inflammation occurs and with time it resolves itself. The problem comes in when the inflammation is repetitive and chronic, creating “dis-ease” in the body.
From the foods we’re exposed to (highly processed, filled with high fructose corn syrup and other refined carbohydrates, food dyes, excessive red meat, etc.) to the environmental toxins, poor gut health, and stress; it feels like we don’t stand a chance sometimes! And with our systems on overload, the body’s ability to manage it all decreases leading to auto-immune disorders like allergies, heart disease, mental health issues, digestive issues, unbalanced hormones, diabetes, obesity and more. Chronic inflammation is the root of so many of the health issues I see with my patients and here are a few tips that can help:
🧘🏻♀️Develop a meditation practice that you enJOY.
🍉 ADD-IN fruits and veggies like 🫐 🍍🌿 🥒 🥑 🍚🫘 🍣 🍗🍠 and chia/flax seeds.
💦 Stay hydrated! Adding 🍋 and herbs like basil or mint to your water bottle can be very cooling to your inflamed system. You can also fortify your water with electrolytes, I love .
🏊🏻♀️Movement practices like yoga, swimming, walking, stretching etc. can be helpful in lowering blood sugars, increasing blood flow and building strength without adding more stress to already inflamed joints.
🐠Take a fish oil supplement. Our food isn’t what it used to be in terms of density of nutrition, so supplementing what you’re not getting in the foods you’re eating is necessary to bring things back into balance.
If you’re looking for a quality supplement that is bio-available (and not a huge capsule!!) reach out. We carry top notch, quality supplements including Pure Fish Oil 3x which we love because it has a 3X greater absorption rate than other fish oils.
Where do you feel inflammation in your body or life?
