I’ve found my thirst for 🐴equine🐴 knowledge to be unquenchable, and found my desire to educate others just as profound.

🤔How is it, that in school I would get over math after the first lesson, yet it’s going on 17 years with horses and I haven’t slowed down?🤔

I find it so easy to get hooked on a new equine subject. 🤷🏼‍♀️Maybe it’s about cleaning tack, ground work, tricks, hoof health.🤷🏼‍♀️ The list is endless. Bodywork has landed somewhere special.

My truck is 📚stashed with books📚 and laminated documents that allow me to take the knowledge I’ve gathered, and put in an inquiring persons hands.

The best part is when they can explore for themselves. 🫵🏼They can choose what topic they’re interested in that day. 🫵🏼They can choose what they want to learn about.

I plot and I plan what book I want to get next…

Maria Hallring- Placing weight in the Trapezius with a too short tree point places weight on the supraspinous ligament, the dorsal spinous processes (and by extension the spine, multifidus, spinal nerves/arteries/veins, and fascia), the scapular cartilage, the scapula (and by extension the serratus and fascia holding the scapula into the body), the rhomboids, and the spinalis. None of these are weight bearing. This is science, not an opinion.

I’ve spoken with Sue Dyson, Audrey DeClue, Kate Workman, Joyce Harman, and Sharon May Davis about this subject, and all have told me about the horrible effects on horses’ backs from tree points that do not reach the Longissimus.

The entire purpose of the tree is to distribute the rider’s weight away from the spine, withers, and scapula and onto the Longissimus. If the tree doesn’t reach the Longissimus, it cannot distribute weight there. This can either be because the tree points are too short, or too wide. A tree point is only as long as what touches the horse.

I’ve dissected horses that have had the thoracic trapezius ripped off the scapula because the saddle placed its weight there, huge rips in the scapular cartilage under the short points, and damage to the cartilage from hypertrophy of the rhomboids because the horse could not use its back properly to push from behind.

But I do find it hilarious to see saddle companies trying to justify short tree points with vague statements like “short tree points provide shoulder freedom!” but not a single brand can demonstrate why scientifically.

I’m so excited to grow my business as quick as I have been. Not only have there been two amazing books added and a new tool, but here is another addition!!!😁Who knows what this is?🤔

“Reliably better (by 45%) than in the control group and with the use of LEDs, there was wound healing in the group of animals when they were exposed to the laser”

🥳I am SO thrilled to announce that I will be adding COLD LASER THERAPY to my practice! I’m in the process of communicating with a company for the perfect laser to match the desired specifications🥳 As some of you may know, I LOVE to do research on topics I am passionate about.🤓 I have spent countless hours learning and searching for information regarding the best tool, and why cold laser will be a better addition than red light. I am happy to share with you all some of the information I have gathered through my schooling and personal research.🤩Special thanks to my Aunt, who carries a PhD and works in neuroscience, for aiding in my understanding.

Many people have heard of red light therapy. But what about cold laser therapy? Did you know that cold laser is much more effective treatment of pain, stiffness, increase cell function and blood flow, and an overall therapeutic effect? It is ACTUALLY able to aid in healing benefits underneath the superficial layer. A BIG benefit of cold laser compared to red light is the lack of heat produced. This means inflamed areas, such as arthritis, will not be overwhelmed with heat, but still receive healing benefits. Here are some findings from two approved, separate studies from PubMed. One of which was specifically for horses!

“Low-level laser therapy, as applied in this study, produced significant reductions in back pain, epaxial muscle hypertonicity, and trunk stiffness.”

“Lasers appeared to be a fundamentally more effective instrument to achieve a therapeutic effect than other light sources.”

“Laser diodes can operate both in continuous mode, including with modulation, and pulsed mode, and LEDs can only work in continuous mode and with modulation, which greatly limits their use.”

“Therefore, laser light in the pulsed mode is used 100-1000 times more efficiently than continuous mode to procure similar reactions of the biological systems. But impulse LEDs do not exist, therefore, it is impossible to achieve such efficiency. Therefore, only LLLT in the pulsed mode allows the implementation of techniques, such as: affect the deep tissues and organs,
affect to immunocompetent organs, affect the nerve nodes”

When discussing the misuse and incorrect labeling of products… “there is a lack of effects produced from incoherent light sources, the insignificance of the effects, and most people understand that the term “LED therapy” will quickly become useless if not “covered” with highly effective laser therapy, while at the same time discrediting the term laser therapy.”

“the energy parameters (power, area, power density (PD), energy density (ED) and exposure) differ for LLLT and incoherent light by tens of times!”

“laser resulted in an increase in the functional activity of the damaged nerve, while incoherent light proved to be much less effective”

“after illumination with a diode laser (830 nm), the bruised tissues had better perfusion, more capillaries, and significantly increased blood flow velocity”

“LEDs often serve as light sources that simulate a laser, but do not have therapeutic effect”

Yesterday I did a massage on a very sweet mare. After a flip over accident she’s been experiencing a lot of sensitivity on her right shoulder. So much so that it led to her owner getting bit. When we see a change in behavior such as this, that’s a huge indicator that something isn’t right. After spending the better part of 90 minutes or so around her right shoulder, the session ended with a MASSIVE reduction of any sort of reaction. There was no more ear pinning or head swinging around. The owner ran their hands over the entire area and also experienced no sensitivity.❤️Not only did it warm my heart to see the horse have instant relief, but it warmed my heart to see the smiles and relief from the owners.❤️ I’m so happy to provide quality massages that benefit the horse. As long as we listen the horse will talk to us. What has your horse been telling you recently?🤔
