🙋🏻‍♀️Ever wonder what’s actually your breastmilk?

It’s much more complex than just calories and hydration.

Breastmilk contains hundreds of living components working together to nourish, protect, and support yourbaby’s development.

Things like:
✨ Antibodies that help fight infection
✨ Enzymes that aid digestion
✨ Hormones that help regulate growth
✨ Immune cells that protect against illness
✨ Prebiotics that feed healthy gut bacteria
✨ Growth factors that support organ and brain development

And the most incredible part?
Your milk is constantly changing to meet your baby’s needs🦸🏻‍♀️

From colostrum in the early days to mature milk months later, it adapts continuously to support growth, immunity, and development.

While infant formula provides basic nutrition for babies who need it, your breastmilk is a living, dynamic substance that science still hasn’t been able to fully mimic.

Feeding a baby can look many different ways — and support matters no matter the journey.

If you’re preparing for breastfeeding or navigating challenges, having early support can make a meaningful difference for yourself and your baby.

👩🏻‍🏫My Breastfeeding Basics class helps expecting parents understand how milk production works and how to prepare before baby arrives.

One of the best things you can do during pregnancy is establish your breastfeeding and postpartum support before baby arrives.

Many parents don’t realize that working with an IBCLC and doula during pregnancy can make a huge difference. Prenatal support allows us to talk through your goals, medical history, anatomy, and support system so we can create a plan that sets you up for success.

Of course babies are unpredictable — and sometimes things don’t go exactly as planned. But when you’ve already built a relationship with a lactation consultant, reaching out for help in those early postpartum days feels much easier.

That’s exactly why I offer my Breastfeeding Basics and Rooted Beginings Perinatal classes for expecting parents. It’s designed to give you the knowledge, confidence, appropriate expectations and support you deserve before crunch time.

Because breastfeeding and postpartum support shouldn’t start when things feel overwhelming — it should start during pregnancy. 💛

If you’re expecting, this is the perfect time to start preparing.

THIS. All of this 🙌🏼

We’re 7 and 9 years in still co-sleeping.
Why? Because it’s what works for our family. Our kids feel safe, connected, and regulated this way.

When they were babies, I couldn’t stand the thought of them crying all alone in the dark when all they really wanted was us. For the first several months of life, babies don’t even fully recognize themselves as separate from their mother—it’s completely natural for them to crave that closeness.

Now it’s simply become our normal. Honestly, it’s like a little slumber party with our mini besties every night. I know it won’t last forever, and one day we’ll probably miss it.
For now, it’s exactly what works for us.

Great news! Aetna insurance is now partnered with The Lactation Network, which means expanded access to covered lactation care.

🤓As always, I read the fine print so you don’t have to—here’s what you should know:

1️⃣ Both parent and baby are covered. Lactation support often involves care for both, and this coverage reflects that.
2️⃣ Visits are covered for in-person care, which aligns perfectly with my practice—I come to you so you can receive support in the comfort of your own home.
3️⃣ Some plans may have a cap on the number of covered visits. Coverage varies by plan, but we’ll make the most of the time we have together.

If you’re struggling or just want expert guidance, I encourage you to check your coverage and reach out. I’d love to support you.

Great conversations and exciting plans happening behind the scenes with Birch Tree Birth Services at Cedar Creek of De Pere Event Center as we prepare for our Meet the Doulas event.

If you’re expecting, planning, or simply curious about the support doulas provide, this is a wonderful opportunity to connect and learn.

✨ Mark your calendar for March 23
We’d love to see you there.

Despite marketing and common misconception, milk supply connor be controlled by one ‘magic fix’. It’s supported by a few key foundations that all need to work together.

✨A deep, comfortable latch.
✨Frequent milk removal.
✨Responding to baby’s cues.
✨And yes — overnight feeds matter more than many parents realize.

If something feels off with your supply, you don’t have to figure it out alone. Early support can make a big difference.

Reach out if you have questions or concerns — that’s exactly what I’m here for. 💛

Watching herbs go from garden to cup never gets old for me. 🌿 Lemon balm is such a beautiful plant and a staple in my Radiance Blend.
Do you grow any herbs at home?
