According to officials, A federal appeals court on Friday upheld the hate crime convictions of the three Georgia men who chased Ahmaud Arbery through their subdivision in pickup trucks before killing him with a shotgun. In early 2020 Arbery, a 25-year-old Black man, was jogging in a local neighborhood, followed, harassed, and later shot.

A three-judge panel of the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals took well over a year to rule, after attorneys for the defendants urged that the case should be overturned. Their bases for this argument suggested that the men’s history of racist text messages and social media posts failed to prove they targeted Arbery because of his race. Reporters have spoken with (s) family -who are satisfied and relieved with the appeal denial.

If it makes you angry, you were called to change it. If the anger won’t leave you, you were called to face it. If you’re allowed to experience it, it’s so that others don’t have to. Our purpose is always directly related to making sure what happened to us doesn’t happen to anyone else. Anger isn’t the problem, not applying it to the area you were called to is.
