Run For Joy!

This event held in Winston raises funds for mental health support for specialized nursing staff. A great cause that is dear to our hearts. This will occur on October 25th.

Be The Light
Also, after her personal fight this year, our friend April Wilson PTA is raising funds for the Susan B Komen "More than Pink" walk also on October 25th in Greensboro. As we see above life can throw some devastating curves, which makes it all the more reason to play and celebrate when we can! My Jason's band, Banna, will be playing in the Piedmont area twice in the next 10 days!! Woohoo! This is the first time in 2 and half years. This Friday the 12th (https://www.facebook.com/share/1CGv7CmyYy/) they will be at Wiseman Brewery in Winston , and September the 20th (https://www.facebook.com/share/1CiD9KpHJu/) you can see them at Joymomgers in our Greensboro downtown area.
I'll be out dancing to the Kilt Kicking Celtic music! We hope to see you for these lively and fun events.

Update

I just wanted to shout out a huge Thank You to all who voted for me and BritPT in the recent Readers Awards in the News and Record!!
I had no idea until last week that we were winners, when a sweet patent asked me about it and then was kind enough to bring in the newspaper section!! What a wonderful surprise, I am absolutely delighted for myself and our Team.

Secondly, I had the opportunity to go onto to 107.5 and have an interview with Katie and Jared last Monday morning! We had a spirited discussion
about body type and self esteem in so many of our Childrens lives. The role of social media as well as cultural and historical influences on ideals of beauty and body shape. We hope you thoroughly enjoyed the Holidays with your loved ones and are coming into 2025 refreshed and ready for new adventures ahead.
With each year in the physical science world, we continue to accumulate evidence that movement and engaging in new activities is vital to
keep both the mind and body young and healthy. In particular we continue to see how resistance training that works with your body type is the most effective thing you can do to preserve your function, your health and to minimise injuries and time spent recovering from them.
Pick a goal this year! Something that’s a little bit of a reach for you and start to make a gradual plan about how to achieve it. Let us know if we can help you plan, or if you need to get over an issue in order to get there.

An Update on Jill ❤️

Many of you have been asking about Jill Clarey, my dear friend and our colleague who was so badly injured as a passenger on August 31st in a terrible accident caused by a distracted driver. Jill is so incredibly resilient and is making steady gains with her recovery. She is having more surgeries at Duke to try to recover more wrist and elbow function. Jill was able to be home for Christmas with her children which was a huge goal of hers. We had the lovely treat of having her show up to the Collaborative's Christmas Party! I was over the moon as you can see from the picture.

Dear Friends,

The weather is definitely informing us that Autumn is upon us. I especially love the crisper mornings and renewed vigour of this season after the summer heat and humidity; it’s always a time of new projects and organisation for me.
This week, 30 years ago, I arrived in Michigan in October, ready for my orientation to be a traveling PT in the US. I had an 18 month contract, a temporary visa, a fairly thin raincoat and I was bursting with a sense of adventure. My intention was to fulfil my contract here and then head over to Australia to be a Flying Physio, or to New Zealand, eventually back to London, home and family.
And, Life is what happens when you are making other plans! I am very clear that I am exactly where I am supposed to be and I am grateful for the fulfilling though challenging path that I followed. I am particularly grateful for the support of the Greensboro community around BritPT Wellness Solutions and our Collaborative health hub. I want to thank our community especially for gathering all your wonderful thoughts, prayers and resources around our Jill Clarey, who is steadily improving and healing after her near fatal injury. Your generosity is to be marvelled at and the GoFundMe has provided a cushion for the staggering medical bills and also allowed her to focus on getting herself well without the stress of lost income in the meantime. We are all incredibly grateful. There is much to be hopeful for ahead.

In 2025 BritPT will turn 20 years old!! We are thrilled to continue to serve our community, providing solutions to complex and chronic pain syndromes as well as the day to day aches, pans and sports injuries that come with loving an active life.
As of January 2025 there will be a slight price increases, the first in 3 years. Remember that you can use your Flex and HSA accounts for visits with us.

Book Signing Feb 29th, 6-8pm

Moonbird Soulful Living Sip and Shop!

Thank you for the continued requests for book signings! I’m excited to announce that the next in-person signing event will be at

Moonbird Soulful Living at 1938 Spring Garden St. on Thursday, Feb 29th. Christina Brown, the owner and curator
of all the treasures that fill Moonbird, will be hosting a Sip and Shop event for us between 6-8pm that evening, as
Healthy is Beautiful continues on its journey around town! (for now.)

Christina is known for her creativity and beautifully artistic store, but she has also been a strong catalyst
for bringing groups of women together for support, learning, and growth. It feels like a perfect collaboration having the next meet and greet event for Healthy is Beautiful in this warm and welcoming space.
So mark your calendars, make a little list of people you need to buy cards and gifts for in the coming month, as
well as a list of the young women in your life who may need some help to better understand their body shapes
and tendencies, and head over to Moonbird for a hug and a chat, a Sip and a Shop. It would be lovely to see you!

Winter Update 2024

Dear Friends,

Usually the winter is a time of reflection and relative downtime. Often, this time will stimulate a host of ideas on what I’d like to try and accomplish in the year ahead. Well, this winter season I went into the reflection with a lot of pots on the boil!, so it’s been a bit livelier than usual. Still, the slowing down serves me to really consider where to put my time and attention and how much effort to exert where. If you haven’t seen me in the past few months, A) Good for you! B) I returned from my fabulous honeymoon river cruise along the Danube in early December, 3) I self published my first book! Healthy is Beautiful! Due to some of these things, we had a backlog of patients waiting to be seen. Please remember;

1. Always try the online schedule to look for open spaces first, book the first available at Britpt.com

2. If that appointment is out a couple of weeks and you’d like to be seen sooner if possible, TEXT/CALL LIZ 336 299-9394 and request to be put on the wait list and specify if you want the first available or if there are specific times, days that you can make. Liz is absolutely magical and the schedule changes RAPIDLY. If we know you are waiting, she does an amazing job of getting you in. You can use that number anytime as the phone is off when she is not working so you will not disturb her.

3. Please cancel any appointments that you cannot make asap, and 24 hours ahead!! We always have people in pain waiting to get in for that “miracle” appointment.

As always we are available 5 days a week at our typical schedule and all the massage therapists working with me continue to grow their own businesses, also. Phillip Ward, acupuncturist and Jill Clarey Naturopath, continue their wonderful work at our Collaborative. I’m so proud of our little Health Hub and how it serves our community.
We have welcomed Lyric Simpson on board as a massage therapist on Mondays, and Janna Hudson has been helping us out since last summer. Taylor is balancing her time between school and bodywork here and in her own practice.

I’ll write another e mail later this week about the launch of my book “Healthy is Beautiful”. I am planning to present and do some book signings in our area in the coming months. It was the most wonderful feeling to receive all those hugs and encouragement,
